Tom Clancy

Berkley, 1994

Great Tom Clancy Backstory for Great Characters
One of my favorites heroes, besides Jack Ryan, in Tom Clancy's books is John Clark. He is a dark figure with a mysterious past. He's a man admired for his action and his word. He works in black ops but has his own moral code. Clark is a man of action. This book essentially covers Clark's past. His girlfriend was murdered by Baltimore drug dealers who raped her while slowly asphyxiating ...

The Wind in the Willows (Signet Classics)124 reviews
Kenneth Grahame

Signet Classics, 2006

joyful
"The Wind in the Willows" reminds me a lot of the television series "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood." I make this connection because in the face of a great deal of children's entertainment that is fast-paced, zany, and explosive, it is gentle and slow, and speaks honestly to children without diluting its messages any. In many of these reviews, readers have expressed their affection for loyal mole, ...

The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream547 reviews
Barack Obama

Crown, 2006

EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT BARACK OBAMA'S VIEWS ON HISTORY AND POLITICS
The book immediately held me with a beautiful description of the Senate chamber, followed by an analysis of how it operates. Mr. Obama writes in a warm, distinctive tone that instantly takes you into its confidence. In contrast to political books that sound like they were written by a campaign strategist, there is an authentic voice here. (Note to politicians: it helps if you actually write your ...

Beverly Lewis

Bethany House Publishers, 2007

Magnificent Merry
Summerhill Secrets is a super novel about a 15 yr. old girl, Merry, who follow's God's law and grows as a teenage Christian. The 5 stories in this book are very well written and interesting. This book was a quick read, but still awesome and I learned a lot about the Amish too. Have fun with Merry as she experiences everyday things teenagers can experience today. Summerhill Secrets by Beverly ...

Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You To Know About2379 reviews
Kevin Trudeau

Alliance Publishing, 2005

Not for the wimpy mided
Kevin Trudeau may well be as much all about the money as he blames the whole world, have crime records, and more. Yet, people still have to listen to him. Most people in America are very negligent about their obesity and diet despite the epidemics of cancer and more diseases. Everybody has known at least a person with a severe disease, such as diabetes, we all know that the canned and boxed food ...

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman (Vintage International)10 reviews
Haruki Murakami

Vintage, 2007

good entrance to Murakami's world
Murakami's world is one of imagination. In his world, he can make the mundane seem surreal and the surreal seem mundane. But I think there is an echo of longing and loneliness in his work. I recommend you read the story "The Year of Spaghetti." This, in my mind, is one of the best short stories EVER written. He captures it ALL here.

The 10-Minute Retriever: How to Make an Obedient and Enthusiastic Gun Dog in 10 Minutes a Day17 reviews
John I. Dahl, Amy Dahl

Willow Creek Press, 2001

In response to B. Blazer's Spotlight Review...
How B. Blazer's review was determined to be Spotlight material baffles me. His review makes it patently obvious that he knows precisely nothing about training dogs, has never spent time with professional trainers and has never run a dog in a field trial or hunt test. Force fetch is an essential part of training retrievers. It is the foundation upon which advanced training is based and all ...

Nothing's Sacred56 reviews
Lewis Black

Simon Spotlight Entertainment, 2006

Lewis Black at his best!
Lewis Black is at his very best. Truly, "nothing is sacred" from Lew's uniquely hilarious brand of critique. I found my self laughing out-loud at portions of the book. Lew also shows his softer side when writing about his late brother, Ron. Overall, a tremendous read. I would highly recommend. It's kind of a "Chicken Soup for the Thinking Person's Soul."

Doxie Moxie: Little Dog, Big Attitude4 reviews
Melissa Sovey

Willow Creek Press, 2007

A must for "Doxie" lovers everywhere!
If you love Dachshunds or know anyone that does, this is the book to get or give as a gift! The pictures are absolutley adorable and funny - puppies, different colors, different poses, costumes - very sweet! The text, written as a "doxie" describes the dog very accurately and uses several quotes in just the right places. A great book for "Doxie" lovers and a great little "pick me up" book for ...

Pugs Amok
One must be wary of an animal that owns the owner. So cute that misbehaving goes excused. This book may give us a glimpse of pugs gone amok, bad wiring. On a lighter side this book makes a great gift and can brighten anyones day!

The Wind in the Willows2 reviews
Kenneth Grahame

Palazzo Editions, 2008

Excellent Illustrations
My only exposure to Wind In the Willows was from the Disney film, which left vivid pictures in my memory. The book did not disappoint those memories, but reinforced them; the illustrations adding not a little to the experience, no doubt contributing to this. This will be a fine window-seat book for my grand children. Magic!
