Deadly Vintage: A Molly Doyle Mystery8 reviews
Elaine Flinn

Perseverance Press, 2007

Better than the rip-off
Elaine Flinn's Doyle series is outstanding, and far, far better on every level than the Jane Cleland series that ripped off almost everything from this great series. Read the original and the best!

The Grape Escapes: The Best of Paso Robles Wineries & Tasting Rooms4 reviews
Bob Rhodes, Cindy Rhodes

Dog Ear Publishing, LLC, 2006

"The Best" makes your tasting easier
I believe I know Paso wines pretty well; this book makes me want to go back and check out a few wineries. Bob and Cindy certainly did their homework and their conclusions about "The Best ____" can be argued, but they've picked wineries you sure don't want to miss when you visit the area. Lots of footwork went into it, and lots of great stories - that they share - come out of it. A fun read! ...

The Wine Roads of Texas: An Essential Guide to Texas Wines and Wineries4 reviews
Wes Marshall

Maverick Publishing Co., 2007

There are many reasons to like this book
This book is highly informative, entertaining, and (must be) the definitive guide book for visiting any or all Texas wineries. The informative aspect is not limited to a textbook about Texas grapes, wines and wineries, though it certainly could be used that way. It is much more. The Introduction is an excellent summary for novice or seasoned wine lovers--telling us about varieties of Texas ...

Marilyn Merlot and the Naked Grape: Odd Wines from Around the World4 reviews
Peter F. May

Quirk Books, 2006

For the true dionysian wine lover
From the very beginning: Peter May's, and Robin Garr's, introductions to this book are a piece of great work in broadening the horizon to a really enjoyable world of wine. The looks of the book show that Peter's May's remarkable collection of unusual wine labels has been in the hands of very good people. And, I want to tell you what my wife said when I handed the book to her to see: "It feels ...

Michael Chiarello

Chronicle Books, 1999

Gorgeous pictures, in depth content, delicious recipe
I have had this book for over a year and have tried several of his recipes which all comes out great. It is one of the few cookboos that I have which I use often. The recipes are easy to follow, simple, and most important of all, delicious. I espcially like the stuffed pepper recipe. It is also a book one can sit down to read for leisure. Plus there are lots of tips, not just recipes.

Pacific Northwest Wining and Dining: The People, Places, Food, and Drink of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and ...9 reviews
Braiden Rex-Johnson

Wiley, 2007

Pacific Northwest Wining and Dining
To counter the damp and dreary days of winter I surround myself with distractions that promise better days to come. At the top of my pile is Braiden Rex-Johnson's Pacific Northwest Wining and Dining. Just looking at the cover of this love letter to NW cuisine warms me. I imagine myself dining al fresco on the patio of this restaurant or a myriad of others. Then I pour over the interior pages, ...

Napa County Wineries3 reviews
Thomas Maxwell-Long

Arcadia Pub, 2002

Maxwell Long has done it again!
After reading and enjoying Maxwell Long's first book on San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly, I decided to purchase this book. Once again, I was impressed by his thorough and impressive research into the history and culture of the Napa Valley. The photographs in this book are outstanding and illustrative of the early days of what we now call "The Premier Wine Country." I recommend this book for a great ...

Backroads of the California Wine Country: Your Guide to the Wine Country's Most Scenic Backroad Adventures ...3 reviews
Karen Misuraca

Voyageur Press, 2006

Past the Tasting Rooms into the Gorgeous Hills!
When many people visit California to tour wineries, they head for Napa Valley on the weekend and sit in traffic jams for hours on route 29. Realizing that everyone in the slowly moving train may not be totally sober, the visitors think about how much they would like to be someplace else. A little known fact is that there are back roads into virtually every wine region in California that offer ...

Mary DeSimone

The ABC Group, 1997

Essential reading for Colorado wine lovers!!
I think the Brad and Alta Smith did a wonderful job researching and "discovering" these wineries, most of which are extremely under-publicized. This book is a handy guide which gets you to every winery and tells you all you need to know about each one before you arrive! A MUST BUY!

Lee Bailey's California Country Wine Cooking2 reviews
Lee Bailey

Clarkson Potter, 1991

Gorgeous looking, and great recipes too!
Lee Bailey writes gorgeous books, that's the first thing you notice, but once you've tried his recipes, and I have five of his books, you find that all you have to do is open the book, follow his straightforward directions and you have a terrific meal. I rarely even add salt, his recipes are that good. Always my go-to guy for important dinner parties, he outdoes himself in this book adding wine ...

Discovering Maryland Wineries2 reviews
Kevin M. Atticks

Resonant Publishing, 1998

This pocket companion to MD wineries is long overdue.
The vineyards are nestled in the most beautiful parts of the state and are succinctly described by the author. A great feature is the author's note on the uniqueness of each one. Yes, the type of wines produced and the winery itself are the focal points, but it is also the meeting of the people behind the vines that makes this book an indispensable guide.
