Wizard's First Rule1356 reviews
Terry Goodkind

Tor Fantasy, 2008

Terry Goodkind is THE MAN
I have recently finished reading the entire Sword of Truth series and am looking forward to going through it again as an entire entity now that it is finished and I can read it all from start to finish. The ability to have it in electronic format will be a great boon to me since I travel quite a bit and having the ability to download new books without having to carry around a heavy hardcover, ...

The New Market Wizards: Conversations with America's Top Traders64 reviews
Jack D. Schwager

Collins Business, 1994

Excellent Book - great for newbies
I read the books backwards - New Market Wizards first and then Market Wizards. I liked them both. To me it was like trading food. Here is a group of rather normal people who have mastered the art of making money. The books fed my appetite for trading knowledge and developed my willpower to trade. These are a great read - I will, no doubt, probably read these often just to get the mental ...

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A Commemorative Pop-up124 reviews
L. Frank Baum

Little Simon, 2001

Wonderful Wizard is Wonderful
I bought this book as a birthday present for my Dorothy-obsessed 3-year old and she LOVES it. I was a little worried that it would be seriously abridged when I read that it only had 16 pages, but no need to fear. Within each page is a chapter of the book so there is plenty of story. It takes almost an hour to read it to her but it is well-worth it.

Stock Market Wizards: Interviews with America's Top Stock Traders53 reviews
Jack D. Schwager

Collins Business, 2003

One interview is worth the price
I bought this book because of one interview which was the best thing I've read on trading. It confirmed my own approach and added some additional thoughts which I found very helpful. You'll find information here that you won't find anywhere else. I LOVE all his books.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: 100th Anniversary Edition (Books of Wonder)52 reviews
L. Frank Baum

HarperCollins, 2000

The original weirdness
I admit, it has been years since I bothered to read this book--kiddie-hood, in fact. I also never saw the movie all the way through until I entered college. But since Oz has utterly invaded our culture, I figured I would give myself a reminder of what all the fuss is about and maybe find new ways to complain about "Wicked."Truly, this is what classic children's literature should be! Despite ...

The Baby Name Wizard: A Magical Method for Finding the Perfect Name for Your Baby94 reviews
Laura Wattenberg

Broadway, 2005

Best Baby Name Book!
My sister recommended this book and I love it. It is not like every other book and baby name website. If you are looking for a name dictionary with origin and meaning of every name, buy one of the other thousand baby name books out there. If you are looking for something different that groups names by category, helps to identify what people think of when they hear the name, and shows popularity ...

Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders114 reviews
Jack D. Schwager

Marketplace Books, 2006

Inspiration for daytraders
I generally only read textbooks about trading. Statistics, technical analysis, calculus etc. However, this very entertaining collection of interviews may be my favorite and most informative read. The stories give re-assurance that an individual can succeed through their own studies, analysis and effort. If you read carefully between the lines, you can figure out how the best in the business ...

The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists: Coping with the One-Way Relationship in Work, Love, and Family70 reviews
Eleanor Payson

Julian Day Publications, 2002

Now it all makes sense
After I finally ended a 20 year relationship with a man that I referred to as" the most self centered human on earth", I still struggled with the lesson I was to learn from it all and still had a fog about what I had experienced. A friend turned me on to this book and BINGO! all the pieces fell into place for me. I was unaware that being a narcissist was an actual personality disorder and that ...

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Books of Wonder)32 reviews
L. Frank Baum

HarperTrophy, 2001

FOR TRUE OZ FANS
This is the 100th anniversary of L. Frank Baum's classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This book has beautiful illustrations and the wonderful story of The Wizard of Oz. What more could you ask for? I'd describe how AMAZING this book is, but who doesn't know the story of The Wizard of Oz?? But the book is different from the movie. It is much more detailed and Dorothy and the gang make a few ...

Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins Of The Internet57 reviews
Katie Hafner

Simon & Schuster, 1998

Great Overview of the True History of the Internet
This is quite possibly one of the most engaging computer books I've ever read, which says quite a bit when I've read computer books for years. The narrative style gives you a beautiful glimpse into some of the trials and tribulations that those involved in the original ARPAnet project went through, and how that project exploded into a vast global phenomenon - a prediction that nobody could have ...

The Wizard Heir-Review
Another great offering in the Heir series. Nicely ties in the characters we loved (and some we hated) from the first outstanding book in the series. Can't wait for the next one!!

The Wizard of Ads: Turning Words into Magic and Dreamers into Millionaires44 reviews
Roy H. Williams

Bard Press, 1998

Does Roy H. Williams ( (( Really know )) ) what he's talking about?
Prior to reading this first of three books I wondered does Roy H. Williams really know what he's talking about? (I guess when you become a Read-o-holic and you've read more than a few thousand books you began to wonder is this all a game? A game of money for books or what.) My second thought was has this man compiled some great stories illustrating some pre-used concepts on Marketing? You ...

Word Wizard2 reviews
Cathryn Falwell

Word Play Wizardry
This book is a great introduction to anagrams and creative word play. Follow up with a set of letter cards or alphabet magnets and kids will have a great time creating their own! WORD WIZARD was listed as a Notable Children's Books in the Language Arts by the National Council of Language Arts Teachers for 1999.

The Annotated Wizard of Oz (Centennial Edition)35 reviews
L. Frank Baum

W. W. Norton, 2000

Had enough of the "real" world? Oz awaits.
I'm a big fan of these annotated books, not only for their visual appeal on the bookshelf, but for their ability to transport me away from the everyday world. And you may think you know Oz because you can sing "Over the Rainbow" and "Follow the Yellow Brick Road", but I assure you, this book will take you farther into Oz than you ever went before. Unlike The Annotated Alice: The Definitive ...
