Art of Segovia12 reviews
Andres Segovia

Deutsche Grammophon, 2002

Great Sound Quality; Great Value
The 24-bit remastering of these analog recordings from the 1950s and 60s is outstanding. Both disks are chock-full at almost 80 minutes each, and there are a good many songs you don't hear every day. Forty of the 41 tracks are solos, while a short Rodrigo orchestral movement concludes the set. Good liner notes are included. There is only a slight overlap between this 2-CD set and Deutsche ...

Soothing sounds for unborn baby
This product is wonderful and i would recommend it to anybody who is expecting a baby. It can be used also later on when the baby is born of course so it is a never-ending beautiful piece of music.

Beethoven's Wig, Vol. 2: More Sing-Along Symphonies17 reviews
Beethoven's Wig

Rounder / Umgd, 2004

A must for Beethoven's Wig fans
There are just as many great sing alongs in this CD as in the first. Most of the tracks are very singable (the Brahms piece is difficult). Lots of fun and plenty of goofy lyrics.

Catholic music as it was meant to be
With the release of Pope Benedict XIV's Motu Proprio and the Summurum Pontificum, I hope we will see a return of such beautiful music to the Mass. The "Panis Angelicus", by tenor John Eskola, is sublime and the "Adoremus Te, Christe", brings tears to my eyes, as does the "Ave Verum Corpus". I can't say enough about this cd. I highly recommend it for those who love traditional Roman Catholic ...

Not Just For Halloween Season!
This is a great CD of classical music with a spooky flavor. It is of course perfect for the Halloween season but can be used to good effect any time of the year. Many of the pieces will be very familiar as they are commonly used in movie and television scores to create creepy atmospheres. The exciting, well produced music on the CD can be enjoyed by everyone but these arrangements are an ...

The Most Relaxing Piano Album in the World...Ever!14 reviews
Isaac Albeniz, Johann Sebastian Bach, ...

EMI Classics, 2001

Beautiful piano music!
This is simply an exquisite collection of beautiful piano pieces. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I can read while listening to this music-call it background music...maybe, but even when you're doing something else-the music is there...it does not intrude, but it doesn't get lost either. I am having a hard time explaining this. I wanted music to relax and enjoy. I got just that with this ...

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe10 reviews

Relaxing Classical Music
I was not really a classical music fan but I am now. I purchased this cd for my 14 year old grand-daughter, not knowing we would both enjoy the music so much. She has always enjoyed classical music along with all of the other teen music, rap, rock, country, etc. Also, it really helped being able to listen to parts of the music before purchasing.

Good for relaxing pregnant women
I stumbled onto this album whilst searching bit torrent websites for classical music. I don't normally listen to classical music but thought it might be relaxing for my pregnant wife. After hearing the quality of the performances, the arrangement, and the recording I decided to buy the album from amazon. All the songs you would expect from a "best album in the world" are there and they are not ...

Schumann & Grieg: Piano Concertos; Leif Ove Andsnes10 reviews
Leif Ove Andsnes, Edvard Grieg, ...

EMI Classics, 2003

Suspicious
I can't help questioning the intention of one of the reviewers named Dag Johansen. He is proactively reviewing most of Andsnes' CDs and giving them very poor rating. In fact, all he is reviewing are Andsnes', no other. I don't mind that if it is truly his honest opinion but there's something fishy here... why does he keep buying Andsnes' CDs if he hates his playing so much? It's as if he is ...

A Bride's Guide to Wedding Music12 reviews

Naxos, 2002

A must have in your music library
I had ordered this cd on the recommendation of the musical director from my Church who has quite an extensive international background. I mistakenly thought I would just use it to pick out songs for the ceremony portion of my wedding. It turns out it has so many classical songs from Bach and many other artists. I listen to it often because the music is so beautiful. I recommend it to anyone ...

Utv Records, 2000

A must for anyone wanting the staples of classical music
In my years of experience teaching Fine Arts to high school students, I know that the majority, if not all, of the music included on this album is commonly used in collge music appreciation courses. This is an excellent sample of truly all the "greatest hits" of classical music. My students enjoy listening to the music and have later told me when take their required music apreciation courses in ...

Grieg: Peer Gynt Suites/ Holberg Suite11 reviews

Deutsche Grammophon, 1993

Great music
I first heard this piece in the movie "Soylent Green", in the scene where Edward G. Robinson's character goes to the euthanasia center, and only recently discovered the title of the piece. If morning had a theme song, the first movement of this piece, "Morning Mood", couldn't be any better suited for it. It sounds like a peaceful morning in a forest or at the beach looks. This cd also contains ...

Good for Halloween Gatherings
If you're looking for a fun CD with spooky sounding music that reminds you of old Disney cartoons...I think that this CD was meant to be fun, NOT for the classical conisseur. It would be a nice CD for a Halloween gathering, or something similar, as background music.

EMI Classics, 2008

Dinu Lipatti- The Master Pianist plays Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Mozart, Grieg, Schumann, Bartok and Schubert on this seven CD set. Dinu Lipatti (1917- 1950 ) was a Romanian classical pianist and composer whose career was tragically cut short by his death from Hodgkin's disease at age 33. Despite his short career and a relatively small recorded legacy, Lipatti is considered one of the finest pianists of the 20th century.

Grieg: Lyric Pieces / Emil Gilels22 reviews
Edvard Grieg, Emil Gilels

Deutsche Grammophon, 1997

Superb historical achievement!
Emil Gilels temperament has always been at least to my mind extremely cold and even analytical. His powerful phrasing is first rate, who can deny it? . However, he recorded for the posterity two emblematic works; this album and Brahms Piano Quartet Op. 25 with Amadeus Quartet(see my review). Gilels was at top form that historical evening with these Grieg pieces. This miniaurist composer ...
