Classic US Service Band Recordings!
Its nice to see these old RCA recordings brought out on CD. These were originally released on LP back in the early 1960s to help finance the Kennedy Center in DC. They were popular recordings then. Unfortunatley only three out of the original four are offered here. Missing is the US Army Band which also recorded as part of this series. The sound qaulity has been left largely as it was, which ...

Great Marching Music
Even though I am a Yankee I still love "Dixie." This is great music for pre-school children and those just entering school. I think it helps build character. I like this album.

Best Patriotic Music I've Found
Loved the CD! I am buying it to use with a Musical Freestyle Ride for a Quadrille. A horse oriented endeaver. The music will be perfect to bring positive patriotism to fairs and fund raisers for NYC.

Not so bad, 100 tunes for 4$
I red the comments of two other people who have bought this 4 CD BOX SET and it is not really so bad. I will even add that there are some excellent tunes. However, I must agree with the fact that few tunes seem to have been recorded 40 or 50 years ago, mainly when you hear the scratches of an old turntable but it is just 2 or 3 tunes. Furthermore, if you do not know American music, it is a good ...

Forward March! Great American Marches7 reviews
US Army Band

Altissimo Records, 2005

A pleasant surprise from the Army Band.
The Forward March CD is a great collection of marches. I have listened to the CD three times in the last few weeks and my students have replayed the CD over and over at the band room. A worthwhile addition to your library.

In the "Top 5" of best band recordings ever. . .
I am a classical music person, and orchestra is my chosen medium; however, back in the 1960s I heard a recording of Morton Gould conducting his symphonic band, and was blown away by the precision, arrangements, and super sound of the LP version of this disk. Now it is out in RCA's new hybrid CD, re-mastered, and spectacular. The power of this band is superb; its members are obviously pick-up ...

Marches II
i'm trying out for drum major, and part of the try outs is marching an L-pattern, the kind of pattern that you would do in a regular drum major competition. it shows your parade marching skills, your ability to stick to tempo, and your directing abilities. so for tryouts, i need to pick a march and this cd has so many to choose from, its awesome! and its also great if your a band director looking ...

Brass & Percussion: Sousa, Goldman, Gould2 reviews

RCA, 1993

Marvellous! One can wish for no more!
Despite having been recorded in the 1950s, this disc's selections are sonically just fine -- almost as good as they are musically. Morton Gould was a remarkable musician, one of the best America has produced. He wrote a great deal of excellent music and he put together fine performances. For this recording, Gould obviously assembled the finest brass and woodwind players in New York. The ...

"100 FIEDLER FAVORITES- THE BOSTON POPS"
This is a great compilation recorded in the days of "The Boston Pops" greatest director Arthur Fiedler. You will be delighted in listening long and forgotten recordings by Fiedler's Pops, like Gershwin, "Cuban Overture", "Prince Igor, Polovetsian Dances" etc. etc. A must have for all classical music and Boston Pops Fans. This great compilation makes one reminisce of old times Boston and its ...

Nothing New Here!
Despite putting together a CD of non-Sousa marches (something very hard for Altissimo! to do) there is really nothing new and interesting here. Most of the marches taken from the Marine band Library are very popular works that are almost as well known in the USA as Sousa himself! Altissimo! managed to cull some stuff from the Marine Band library and threw them together onto a CD with a catchy ...

Good choice of tunes and songs
This CD contains a good choice of American patriotic tunes and songs. The recording is good and the price is affordable. If it is your first CD of American patriotic tunes and songs, it is a good choice. However, if you prefer the same tunes and songs played or sung by an other orchestra, band or choir, just shop on Amazon; there are hundred of different versions.
