The Most Soothing Lullabies In The Universe3 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

Denon Records, 2004

Really great CD for long car rides!
This is a lovely CD for everyone. It is sincerely mellow with few exceptions and makes a soothing sound for the car (especially for long car rides). On the first of 2 cd's, the set up is a little odd. The first 2 songs are mellow and relaxing (just enough to help put a baby to sleep) then the 3rd song comes on like a thunderbolt and will wake the child if your not careful.

Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics, Vol. 26 reviews
Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, ...

Buena Vista, 2006

Great CD for baby (and adults shhh)
This is great CD. We love Vol. 1 but it was getting a little over played so we bought Vol. 2. It's THE best thing for a car ride. Especially with a fussy baby who hates cars.

Schoenberg Violin Concerto Op.36/Sibelius Violin Concerto Op.4717 reviews
Sibelius, Schoenberg, ...

DG, 2008

Revelatory
The Schoenberg violin concerto is widely admired and widely studied, but it isn't much played, and it's never been much loved. This is partly because of the huge technical hurdles it presents fiddlers, but also because it isn't especially easy to bring off musically; in this regard it is unlike the piano concerto, say, which is far more accessible, and which offers up at least some of its ...

Romance of the Violin59 reviews
Joshua Bell, Giacomo Puccini

Sony, 2003

Drippingly romantic!
I played this during my dinner party this week and several of my guests commented on how beautiful the music was! It is a lovely collection and has not one single track that I want to skip when it plays!

Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto Op35; Brahms: Violin Concerto in D Op7715 reviews
Johannes Brahms, Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky, ...

EMI Classics, 1995

Possibly the biggest steal in all of recorded music !
As one who grew up adoring the Jascha Heifetz/Fritz Reiner recordings of these two great concerti, and certain they had set a standard of musical excellence impossible of being equalled, much less bettered, imagine my surprise upon hearing this fabulous disc. HEIFETZ & REINER HAVE BEEN DETHRONED! Having beaten back great artists in recent years such as Vengerov and Shaham, it hardly seemed ...

Kapell Rediscovered3 reviews
Thomas Arne, Johann Sebastian Bach, ...

RCA, 2008

Kapell's Discovered Treasures
"Willy was beyond a doubt the greatest pianistic talent this country [USA] has ever produced." Leon Fleischer America has seen its share of pianistic careers cut short for varying reasons: whether due to burnout (Van Cliburn), hand injuries (Leon Fleischer, Gary Graffman), or other ailments (Byron Janis). Even Murray Perahia, arguably the best American pianist active today, has battled stress ...

Vivaldi: The Four Seasons; Violin Concertos14 reviews
Antonio Vivaldi, Itzhak Perlman, ...

EMI Classics, 2002

A beautiful Vivaldi recording
Itzhak Perlman plays the Four Seasons like no other violinist. The clarity and tone indicate a master violinist but the emotion and passion convey a sense of a message. If you are looking for a great recording of the Four Seasons, pick this one up right away, as you will find the other violin concertos to be extremely enjoyable and well played. It is a great staple recording to have.

Bach: Violin Concertos12 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Daniel Barenboim, ...

EMI Classics, 2002

Very pleasing
I can understand the criticism and praise from the reviewers on this interpretation. Once again, it's a matter of taste and ultimately liking the balance between technical skill and expression. Sometimes the tempi can alter the course of appreciation as well, and I think that's more the case here. To my ear, this is a very solid and beautiful rendition. Perlman plays with a very distinct ...

Baby Einstein: Baby Mozart20 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra

Buena Vista, 2002

Baby love
My baby loves the baby einstein movies (3 months old) and this uses the music from the baby Mozart video, so he recognizes it and laughs and plays while listening!

The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!83 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Léo Delibes, ...

Angel Records, 1999

Does what it set out to do, very well
So i'm a classical music veteran, someone who prefers to collect a complete work, rather than classical compilations. I probably would not have listened to this album at all if my dad didnt buy it for me as a gift. By now, i own the complete works that over half of the excepts on this disc come from. I am a purist if ever there was one. That said, i totally adore this set because i have ...

40 Degrees North1 review
Isaac Albeniz, Anonymous, ...

EMI Classics, 2008

Unique talent, unique perspective, and as close to an autobiography as you will get in classical music
Yang Xue Fei is on a mission to change how we listen to guitar. This is an extremely ambitious goal, approached and achieved in the past by the likes of Segovia and Bream. It sets her apart from other guitarists, no matter how wonderful or dazzling their talents. As is always the case with Fei, it's fascinating to observe how her culture influences her art. Her right hand technique, in ...

Gershwin: Rhapsody In Blue/An American In Paris9 reviews
George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, ...

Sony, 1990

A glorious tribute!
To play Gershwin accurately demands from the player, the absolute domain of an invisible taste, unsaid in the score. Few pianists (and Bernstein is among them) were able to convey the listener, this savoir vivre, humor, elegance, that idiomatic atmosphere that plainly justifies your effort. To my mind, there just have been five pianists who have surmounted this peak: Oscar Levant, Jesus Maria ...

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe9 reviews
Johann Pachelbel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, ...

Denon Records, 2003

Greatly enjoy!
I first developed a taste for this music a number of years ago when my daughter started playing in the orchestra. The reason I made this purchase however, was because I have a great deal of difficulty with anxiety and I was looking for ways to find help. I love these CDs. It helps so much to sit and close my eyes and enjoy the music. The CDs are full of beautiful music.

Frank Morelli, Johann Sebastian Bach, ...

Beethoven Edition: Complete Works (85CD Box Set)7 reviews
Ludwig van Beethoven, Florian Prey, ...

Brilliant Classics, 2007

Glorious Practicality
There's hardly a music lover out there who doesn't already have multiple recordings of the Beethoven symphonies, quartets, concertos, etc., performances from which we choose according to mood, frame of mind-- to any number of reasons. So why not add another set of each? It never hurts to have another take on this infinitely interpretable music, and have it on the cheap. But wait! There's more! ...

Bach: Brandenburg Concertos No. 1-4; Neville Marriner; Academy of St. Martin in the Fields5 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Sir Neville Marriner, ...

EMI Classics, 2004

Easy to Enjoy
I am not a musician nor can I identify Bach's Brandenburg Concerto number one from number five. However, I am an avid listener and do enjoy classical music. I know how good the Academy of St Martin in the Fields is and what a great conductor Sir Neville Marriner is. Most of all, I can identify a real bargain when I see one and this CD qualifies as a great bargain. Bach's concertos are ...

Bach Edition: Complete Works (155 CD Box Set)50 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Andrew Manze, ...

Brilliant Classics, 2006

so far, definitely so good
I have listened to, thus far, 72 discs and have enjoyed all but one of the performances, especially the Mass in B Minor, Magnificat, Goldberg Variations, The Art of Fugue, and to my surprise in spite of unfavourable reviews elsewhere, the Sacred Cantatas. I found the choral singing and orchestral playing of The Sixteen to be very moving and beautiful. Given the cost of this complete set, I feel I ...
