The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!83 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Léo Delibes, ...

Angel Records, 1999

Does what it set out to do, very well
So i'm a classical music veteran, someone who prefers to collect a complete work, rather than classical compilations. I probably would not have listened to this album at all if my dad didnt buy it for me as a gift. By now, i own the complete works that over half of the excepts on this disc come from. I am a purist if ever there was one. That said, i totally adore this set because i have ...

Kapell's Discovered Treasures
"Willy was beyond a doubt the greatest pianistic talent this country [USA] has ever produced." Leon Fleischer America has seen its share of pianistic careers cut short for varying reasons: whether due to burnout (Van Cliburn), hand injuries (Leon Fleischer, Gary Graffman), or other ailments (Byron Janis). Even Murray Perahia, arguably the best American pianist active today, has battled stress ...

Sony, 1997

Definitive Recordings of Copland's Popular Ballet Scores From Bernstein, NYPO
Without question, this splendid CD is my favorite recording of some of Aaron Copland's most popular orchestral ballet scores. In Leonard Bernstein he had both a good friend and a devout ally, who successfully championed Copland's music, helping to ensure his reputation as one of the greatest - if not the greatest - 20th Century American composer. Sony has done a superb job in digitally ...

Soothing sounds for unborn baby
This product is wonderful and i would recommend it to anybody who is expecting a baby. It can be used also later on when the baby is born of course so it is a never-ending beautiful piece of music.

Spanish Guitar Music8 reviews
Isaac Albeniz, Mateo Albeniz, ...

Sony, 2002

Excellent Introduction to Spanish Classical Guitar Music
As a sampler, this CD is an excellent introduction both to Spanish classical guitar music and to guitarist John Williams. The music ranges from Renaissance composers (Sanz, Mudarra) and harmonized folk melodies to standard 20th Century works (Rodrigo, Torroba etc). John Williams is excellent throughout. The CD is also cheap, and can be used either just for enjoyment, or further to explore ...

This is the first time I have ever bought a classical music CD and I was very pleased with this one. It has a good variety of selections. I would buy it again.

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe9 reviews
Johann Pachelbel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, ...

Denon Records, 2003

Greatly enjoy!
I first developed a taste for this music a number of years ago when my daughter started playing in the orchestra. The reason I made this purchase however, was because I have a great deal of difficulty with anxiety and I was looking for ways to find help. I love these CDs. It helps so much to sit and close my eyes and enjoy the music. The CDs are full of beautiful music.

boy wonders of London
This cd is a reflection of their current US concert tour. I was fortunate enough to see them in Hartford recently. I purchased a couple of cd's of theirs before buying concert tickets. After hearing them, I immediately got the tickets. It was one of the best live musical experiences I've had in years. I'd recommend this to any lover of male choral music.

Best Classical CD bargain on Amazon, IMHO
I'm surprised this CD isn't displayed on the Classical Blowout store. Perhaps it's *too* good a bargain? I purchased this CD for one piece: The Story Of The Kalandar Prince. My children and I love this work, as it is orchestrated like a story ("tone poem" is the correct term I think) - insert your imagination as to how it plays out. This a wonderful CD to play on a cold winter night, with a ...

Bach Edition: Complete Works (155 CD Box Set)50 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Andrew Manze, ...

Brilliant Classics, 2006

so far, definitely so good
I have listened to, thus far, 72 discs and have enjoyed all but one of the performances, especially the Mass in B Minor, Magnificat, Goldberg Variations, The Art of Fugue, and to my surprise in spite of unfavourable reviews elsewhere, the Sacred Cantatas. I found the choral singing and orchestral playing of The Sixteen to be very moving and beautiful. Given the cost of this complete set, I feel I ...

40 Degrees North1 review
Isaac Albeniz, Anonymous, ...

EMI Classics, 2008

Unique talent, unique perspective, and as close to an autobiography as you will get in classical music
Yang Xue Fei is on a mission to change how we listen to guitar. This is an extremely ambitious goal, approached and achieved in the past by the likes of Segovia and Bream. It sets her apart from other guitarists, no matter how wonderful or dazzling their talents. As is always the case with Fei, it's fascinating to observe how her culture influences her art. Her right hand technique, in ...

RCA, 2005

Definitive SACD of Scheherazade - Outstanding!!!!
This multichannel SACD is recorded in the front 3 channels only, as this is what the technicians and their top notch analog equipment recorded more than 40 years ago. At that time the Chicago Symphony and conductor Fritz Reiner were both at the top of their game, and this recording has not been equalled to this day. Absolutely puts the listener in the middle of the ninth or tenth row, and ...

Build Your Baby's Brain18 reviews

Wonderful stimulating music for baby
I am sorry for the previous review who said that intelligence is hereditary. If that is true, all mankind would have been doomed from the start. Intelligence is not hereditary, but rather a result of stimulation during infancy and birth. Sure, it isn't a guarantee that your child *will* become a genius if you attempt to educate them from birth, but there is no doubt that real educational ...

Switched-On Bach38 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Wendy Carlos

East Side Digital, 2001

Just as I remember
I first heard this groundbreaking recording when it was first released and it turn me on to music of the baroque period. As an 8 year old piano student, I took it to my teacher and told her "I want to learn how to do THIS!" While she did not get the import of Wendy (then Walter) Carlos' work, she did help me learn some of the more accessible pieces and I went on to major in music. This ...

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Bruce Abel, ...

Brilliant Classics, 2005

The best Così fan tutte on disc
In is hard to justify spending $120 for one opera, but if you do buy this Mozart box set you will be rewarded by a delightful Così fan tutte. This live recording succeeds primarily because of the deft baton of Sigiswald Kuijken. He sets what invariably seems to be the perfect tempo and then lets the singers run with it. He allows a gentle rallentando when sections of music change, but otherwise ...

Bach
Surely you don't need me to review the guy. You know who he is, you've heard his music, and I hope you own some. So let me turn the podium over to a cat named Picasso, and you can read into that whatever you wish. She's in a chair, near the CD player. She has entered the room specifically for the music. Her eyes are squinted, almost but not quite shut, little face concentrating on just how ...

Johann Sebastian Bach, Sir Neville Marriner, ...

EMI Classics, 2004

Easy to Enjoy
I am not a musician nor can I identify Bach's Brandenburg Concerto number one from number five. However, I am an avid listener and do enjoy classical music. I know how good the Academy of St Martin in the Fields is and what a great conductor Sir Neville Marriner is. Most of all, I can identify a real bargain when I see one and this CD qualifies as a great bargain. Bach's concertos are ...

Bach: Partitas Nos. 2-44 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Murray Perahia

Sony Classics, 2008

Exactly what you'd expect from Perhaia
In my opinion, nowhere in the entire output of Johann Sebastian Bach does this very, very great composer display his mastery over counterpoint and harmony better than in the mighty six keyboard partitas. Here is keyboard composition of such stature that only the great late keyboard sonatas of Beethoven are their peer. Working from a group of French dances popular in the era, J.S. developed a ...

Works of Igor Stravinsky14 reviews
Donald Gramm, Howard Chitjian, ...

Sony Classics, 2007

The Bargain of 2007
I consider this release\compilation to be the greatest classical bargain of 2007-a year of many complete issues such as Bach and Mozart on Brilliant classics(before 07). Stravinsky is the conductor for almost all the performances with the CBS orchestra and, though recorded in the early to late 60's, the sound is spectacular. I am listening to disc 1(for the tenth time) and still love the ...
