Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics, Vol. 27 reviews
Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, ...

Buena Vista, 2006

Great CD for baby (and adults shhh)
This is great CD. We love Vol. 1 but it was getting a little over played so we bought Vol. 2. It's THE best thing for a car ride. Especially with a fussy baby who hates cars.

Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

He started dancing as soon as we put it on!
My 12 month old loves this CD and happily bops away to the music (in the car he sometimes even starts singing!). We like it too and not being very well versed in Classical music, it is a nice mix for us.

The Most Soothing Lullabies In The Universe6 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

Denon Records, 2004

sooth for both unborn and newborn babies.
very soothing for the unborn baby (decreases in-utero kicking) and the newborn baby (increases between-feedings time at night). highly recommended for any newly minted parents out there.

Deutsche Grammophon, 2008

Great Fun from Venezuela
This may not be the greatest music, but the orchestra sounds terrific. Most important, under the wunderkind Dudamel, the players convey a joyful sense of engagement and appropriately controlled abandon. A real winner!

A State of Wonder: The Complete Goldberg Variations (1955 & 1981)52 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Glenn Gould, ...

Sony, 2002

Really, so NO ONE in 1981 realized the analog tapes sounder better?
Most of us may remember the "perfect music forever" marketing that introduced CDs 25 years ago... those of us with working ears pretty quickly dismissed it for the hype it was... I've got both the '55 and '81 versions and now this release. I have NO regrets re the performance (of course) nor the sonics. My point is that I find it hard to believe that no one at what was then Columbia realized the ...

Wonderful collection and price!
I found this to be a nice collection of favorites, especially to keep in the car and listen to. It is a variety of well known compilations. Although not encompassing, it is perfect as a review for driving, relaxing, and enjoyment. Plus, the price is right!

Chopin: The Piano Concertos3 reviews
Chopin, Zubin Mehta, ...

Deutsche Grammophon, 2008

A sublmial reading of Chopin's: and I bet that's the way Chopin would have it!
Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1, the second one composed by him, was first performed during one of Chopin's "farewell" concerts before leaving Poland. The treatment by Lang Lang and Mehta in this recording is suitably nostaglic, though in terms of tempo not nearly as fast as most other virtuoso (notably Argerich, Yundi Li). First Movement: The opening movement's nearly 4 minutes orchestration ...

Glass Box: A Nonesuch Retrospective(10 CD)
Richard Peck, Alexander Blachly, ...

Nonesuch, 2008

This elegantly packaged 10 disc retrospective surveys four decades of work by Philip Glass, from his earliest solo pieces to his world-renowned operas to his Oscar-nominated film scores. In music, words and pictures, it traces the evolution, as critic Tim Page puts it in his liner notes essay, of 'the first composer to win a wide, multi-generational audience in the opera house, the concert hall, the dance world, in film and in popular ...

Schoenberg Violin Concerto Op.36/Sibelius Violin Concerto Op.4722 reviews
Sibelius, Schoenberg, ...

DG, 2008

Great Sibelius but the Schoenberg is the showstopper
It'd be tempting to say the classical music recording industry is in great shape when the Schoenberg on this disc is the primary work and the Sibelius is the "flip-side." But a look at much of the rest of the industry shows that this is an anomaly...still, we'll take what we can get. This wonderful CD starts off with a delightfully *lyrical,* yes, lyrical, reading of the Schoenberg concerto. ...

Beethoven's Wig: Sing Along Symphonies81 reviews
Beethoven's Wig

Rounder / Umgd, 2002

Teaching Kids to Love Classical Music
This is a great product. The kids love it. Some reviews have mentioned that the lead vocalist is not very melodic. However, I see this as a plus. He has a zany way of cracking his voice which is a hilarious complement to the other opera-class voices on the CD. My kids seem to love the instrumental-only versions now that they associate these with the vocal versions.

Bach
Surely you don't need me to review the guy. You know who he is, you've heard his music, and I hope you own some. So let me turn the podium over to a cat named Picasso, and you can read into that whatever you wish. She's in a chair, near the CD player. She has entered the room specifically for the music. Her eyes are squinted, almost but not quite shut, little face concentrating on just how ...

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe10 reviews
Johann Pachelbel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, ...

Denon Records, 2003

Relaxing Classical Music
I was not really a classical music fan but I am now. I purchased this cd for my 14 year old grand-daughter, not knowing we would both enjoy the music so much. She has always enjoyed classical music along with all of the other teen music, rap, rock, country, etc. Also, it really helped being able to listen to parts of the music before purchasing.

ANNE-SOPHIE: SUPERB BACH & SOARING GUBAIDULINA
Five INSPIRING Stars!! BRILLIANT!! With the possibility of retirement taken off the table, Anne-Sophie Mutter, the brilliant Grammy-winning virtuoso violinist, seems to be back with an artistic vengeance presenting a program that bridges both her love of traditional and contemporary classical music. She revisits works by Bach which she recorded in her youth and performs the world premier ...

Sarah Brightman Classics148 reviews
Sarah Brightman, Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, ...

Angel Records, 2002

Ahh Sarah!
Is there a better singer in the world? I don't think so, but in any case, this new album from the now very svelte and very georgeous Sarah Brightman is superb. The power, the control, the clarity is all there. This experienced vocalist is the definition of a world class diva. The proof of it all is the fact that her fans, of which I am one, could listen to her for days on end without getting ...
