Self-Healing With Sound & Music16 reviews
Andrew Weil, Kimba Arem

Sounds True, 2004

I'll wear the CDs out!!!
I absolutely love this 2 CD set. Dr. Weil's explanations of sound therapy are extraordinary and the sound attunements are amazing! I can always count on a great balancing realignment with the holophonic technology used in the recordings. Kimba's instrumentation is so relaxing and joyful that I listen to them over and over. Unlike some "New Age" musical CDs, this set is truly therapeutic in ...

25 Romantic Classics13 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

Vox (Classical), 1996

Not A Music Critic ... But A Lover Of All Music ...
Let's not be too harsh regarding this CD. I purchased this as my first baby step into the classical genre and it absolutely made me fall in love with classical music and appreciate it in a way I never could when people tried to make me like it. It is such a wide variety of classical music and I find romance to be joyful, tragic, gentle, harsh & a complete roller coaster that I found all in this ...

Music of Samuel Barber: Adagio for Strings, Op. 11/Orchestral Music; Leonard Slatkin12 reviews
Samuel Barber, Leonard Slatkin, ...

EMI Classics, 1990

The Best of Samuel Barber
Samuel Barber's most popular orchestral works have seldom been as well-performed as they were by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin. This wonderful EMI recording is a lasting testament to the great things that Slatkin accomplished during his long tenure in St. Louis. The overture to "The School for Scandal" was an early triumph for Samuel Barber and it was clearly an ...

Chant37 reviews
Gregorian Chant, The Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos

Angel Records, 1994

PEACE FROM WITHIN
I can't understand most of the latin words in these chants but the spirituality, harmony and the "music" in the monks' voices are refreshing to the soul. I know that several monks sing but you basically hear one voice. I would suggest that a pocket size book with the translation of each chant should accompany each CD.

Self-Healing With Guided Imagery: How to Use the Power of Your Mind to Heal Your Body17 reviews
Andrew Weil, Martin L., M.D. Rossman

Sounds True, 2004

A Masterpiece!
I've been listening to Dr Weil and Dr Rossman's Self Healing with Guided Imagery for the past three nights... What a masterpiece! The information on the first CD is excellent... I learned so much about how guided imagery works and for the first time felt a connection with every part of my body. The concept that each part of our body has an intelligence had a profound impact on me. I've been going ...

Edgar Meyer, Hector Console, ...

Sony, 2005

Yo-Yo CD
My nephew mentioned his desire to hear some classical music (Yo-Yo Ma, especially) on the boring trips back & forth from college. He really seemed to enjoy receiving the CD for Christmas!

The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!85 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Léo Delibes, ...

Angel Records, 1999

Good for relaxing pregnant women
I stumbled onto this album whilst searching bit torrent websites for classical music. I don't normally listen to classical music but thought it might be relaxing for my pregnant wife. After hearing the quality of the performances, the arrangement, and the recording I decided to buy the album from amazon. All the songs you would expect from a "best album in the world" are there and they are not ...

Stellar
This CD is incredible! The way it is written with syllabic (rather than real) words makes the music itself more expressive.

Music from a Farther Room57 reviews
Lucia Micarelli, Eric Holden, ...

Reprise / Wea, 2004

LOVE IT and HATE IT
You can hear the passion and emotion in her music. I can't wait to see what she has in her next Album, "Interlude". I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with her music. I absolutely love, love, love watching her and listening to her music. I hate the fact that it makes me cry every time. As stated in the previous review, it is absolutely beautiful ... Words do not do her music justice...

The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace25 reviews
Nicholas Merryweather, Philip Shakesby, ...

EMI Classics, 2005

Poignantly beautiful and stunningly emotional
I received this CD as a gift from a friend in the UK. He was spot on as to the musical intregrity of this mass. I was moved by the beauty and power of Jenkin's 21st century lyrical move from the Muslim call to prayer, to the amassing of troops, to the battle, and then the end of the fighting. This is a must hear as it is thought provoking: one moves through the emotion and sentiments of war via ...

Mozart for Meditation11 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Colin Davis, ...

Philips, 1995

Excellent for Massage!
I'm a licensed massage therapist, and I absolutely adore using this CD during my sessions! It's a great alternative to the new age-y music styles that are so pervasive in the relaxation music scene -- my clients find this CD soothing & relaxing, and not at all "weird". This music suports a "relaxed but focused" atmosphere -- it serves as excellent white noise in the lobby area, and I even use ...

Prayer: A Windham Hill Collection5 reviews
Michael Manring, Philip Baker, ...

RCA, 2003

Music for Meditation
This is a delightful collection of music appropriate to meditative prayer. It is often my prayer companion, and I like the style and performance found on this CD. I highly recommend it to people who enjoy deeper reflection with a wordless musical background.

An Organ Blaster Sampler5 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Andre Campra, ...

Telarc, 1991

Pure Majestic Power!
Corey is right - this is an outstanding organ CD, one of the best I've heard. Murray plays some of the largest and most powerful organs on Earth, and uses the reed stops more than the usual organist to produce great effects and a wall of sound that are majestic in the extreme. The selections are all great virtuoso showpieces, and track #6 by Messiaen (Dieu parmi nous from La Nativite') is ...

Fire & Ice11 reviews
Sarah Chang, Placido Domingo

EMI Classics, 2002

I'm impressed . . .
I put the CD in CD player, turned up the volume, and went about the house doing domestic things. I had to stop doing the dishes, dry my hands, and run upstairs (and I do not like the stairs, have major issues with the stairs!) just to check the disc information. The playing was that good, jaw-droppingly so. I'm impressed.
