GREAT compilation!!!
I can only wish that popular music (rock, rap, dance) compilers could take a hint from this album, and include only the GOOD songs. This has all of the well-known classical songs. I really wanted to get the title of a particular classical song, and I looked for 4 weeks on the Internet until I remembered I had this album. I put it in, and the second song, "O Fortuna", was it.

I discovered this CD in a review from The Week. This collection totally lived up to its 4 stars! The sound is more full and powerful than any Brahm's recording I have ever heard. This CD makes the excellent Bernstein DG CD sound weak in comparison. The Capucons are worth finding and remembering.

Unusual but outstanding flute music
This is one of a number of cd's bought for my wife (an avid flute lover) which have turned out to be among my favorites. Galway plays with his normal crispness and energy, but here some unusual pieces one doesn't hear often. The two Khachaturian songs are haunting and the Belfast Hornpipe is so neat! We listen to this often with toetapping, sometimes dancing enjoyment.

Great collection and Cecilia's singing is simply beautiful, without any of these strange mannerisms that sometimes show up in her performances.
