Born Free47 reviews
Virginia McKenna, Bill Travers

Sony Pictures, 2003

Excellent heartwarming film
I am a huge animal lover, but somehow I had never seen this movie. The "Christian the lion" clip really got me interested in that story which led me to this story. This movie was positively fantastic. The storyline was heartwarming in itself, but the landscape was breathtaking. This movie was a real treat and I am sure that I will enjoy watching it again and again.

Geordie1 review
Jameson Clark, Francis de Wolff

Televista, 2008

Absolutely Charming Film.
I remember seeing "Geordie" with my parents in England when the film was first released in 1955. I was just a kid, but I never forgot it. It's one of those films that leaves you with a warm glow inside. It was a big hit in the UK, and deservedly so. I believe the film was entitled "Wee Geordie" for the North American audience. In the highlands of Scotland, a young boy, Geordie, is teased by ...

The First Olympics: Athens 189629 reviews
David Ogden Stiers, Hunt Block

Sony Pictures, 2008

Awesome movie FINALLY on DVD
This movie is a slightly glossy version of American atheletes involvement in the first modern Olympics in Athens, 1896. David Caruso fans will really enjoy this early performance as an working class Irish American determined to triumph over racial prejudice and win gold in the Olympics. The casting was very good. Despite the fact that most of the actors are little known, the quality of acting ...

6 of Sellers' lesser known works on one awesome box from Anchor Bay!!!
If your a Sellers fan you should give this a try, this stuff is not as well known as the Pink Panther stuff,or of his Kubrick work, but still these are smallhard to find British gems nonetheless,a great companion piece to Anchor Bay's Alec Guinness Collection!!! The Smallest Show On Earth6 reviews
Virginia McKenna, Bill Travers

Times Film Corporation, 2003

lesson in what acting is all about
THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH, the Bijou movie house, is well worth watching for its'lesson in what acting is all about. The enigmatic title is the only puzzlement of the movie. Otherwise, you get entertainment the British plain acting way that only the British seem to know how to do it. "Smallest" is a simple, delightful plot of what might go wrong with the best laid plans of inheritance when the ...

Duel at Diablo23 reviews
Armand Alzamora, Bibi Andersson

MGM (Video & DVD), 2003

Movielover.dolly
This is one of my all-time favorite Westerns. Although I have never thought of James Garner as one of the best actors out there, this movie seems to bring out the best in him, as far as Sidney Portier is concerned, he is always great. After the pablum served up in the 40's and 50's, this is one of the first movies to portray the relationship between the American Indian and the white man in a ...

A Midsummer Night's Dream13 reviews
Judi Dench, Donald Eccles

Water Bearer Films,, 2005

A naked Judi Dench
An independent film Directed by Peter Hall and The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon. This is one of those gems that allow many famous personalities of the time to display a little culture. There are many fun facets of this film; right off we notice all the actors in a much earlier version. Who would have thought that Judi Dench was once so cute? And Helen Mirren before she was ...

The Browning Version (Criterion Collection)25 reviews
Michael Redgrave, Jean Kent

Criterion, 2005

The Browning Version
Asquith's mournful, utterly absorbing ensemble drama was adapted by Terence Rattigan from his own play. Redgrave, in one of his greatest screen performances, is magnificent, communicating both the unrelenting severity and turbulent inner sadness of Crocker-Harris--who keeps a stiff upper lip about Millie's infidelities, the headmaster's disrespect for his years of service, and his own failed ...

'LIKE NOTHING YOU'VE EVER SEEN'
I have to admit i love this movie. Growing up as a kid, i always use to love watching the classic dinosaur movies. Wether it was stop motion animation or the man in the rubber suit routine like the Godzilla movies. Wether or not you like Gorgo, this movie has the most realistic, incredible special effects out of most of the giant monster films. No stop motion animation here, just an actor in a ...

Bombshells of the Silver Screen 4 Movie Pack1 review
Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida

Bci / Eclipse Music, 2004

Euro-style glamor
BRENTWOOD Movie Packs offer a variety of cinematic genres at bargain prices. Video transfers of their "B" movies are pretty decent, as is sound. "Bombshell" was once used to describe actresses like Loren, Lollobrigida, Bardot, Sommer and Lisi. Presented here on two double-sided DVDs are four prime examples of vintage European cinema showcasing the above beautiful ladies (who were also fine ...

An Elephant Called Slowly1 review
Virginia McKenna; Bill Travers

CreateSpace, 2008

Best Elephant Movie Ever! (according to my 2-year old)
My two-year-old has an obsession with elephants so I did a little research to try and find something for her to watch besides Dumbo and Babar. I came across this video and actually ended up getting this and Born Free, which has the same actors. To be honest, we never made it through this movie the first several times we tried to watch it -- it seemed a little slow in the beginning. However, once ...

George Adamson, Raffles Harman

Starz / Anchor Bay, 2000

Poli, Poli
At last! At last! I have waited 20 years to own this movie! I saw it the last time it was on TV (and on crackly home recording since). The unofficial sequel to Born Free, Slowly is the story of Bill Travers' and Virginia McKenna's return to Kenya after falling in love with the country when filming Joy Adamson's story about Elsa the lion cub. Whilst house-sitting for a friend, they find ...
