Like any movie, some like it and some do not. I thought it was the best comic book movie yet and I read a gazilion comics growing up in the 60's. Man I wish my Mom had not chunked all the comics that would be worth thousands now. Oh well this movie did not try to put all the artsie fartsie stuff like the first Hulk and the third and embarressing Spiderman did. Downey was excellent and looks ...

A Primer for a New Generation.
Although highly popular for its time (labelled the Best Film of the 90's), in those days anything even hinting at post modernism, (one aspect, mixing genres); a speculative tale about the Master experiencing "writer's block", falling in love and the beloved becoming his Muse for the greatest love story of all time, seemed, in my arrogance, too main- stream, even somewhat stupid. Well, what a ...

Like "Saw", but it doesn't suck
Se7en is a film about 2 detectives trying to solve a murder case where the killer is executing people who he thinks have committed the 7 deadly sins. This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and has the best ending/climax that I have ever seen. This film will also act as a moral compass and make you think about your own beliefs about life, death, and sin. highly reccamended.

Very good movie
I'd like to say first that I am not an Austen fan. I generally don't like the movies made about her books, nor do I like her books. However, this movie was cute. I would assume that is because it doesn't catch the essence of Austen's works like some people say it doesn't, and since that very essence is what I don't like, I loved this movie. If you're really into Austen books, try the other ...

A work of art
What a great adaptation of the brilliant Dickens novel. Alfonso Cuaron has directed a gorgeous and utterly romantic movie. There's beauty and poetry in every shot, and the scene where Finn declares his love to Estella under the rain is more moving than anything I've seen in movies in a long time. The score is simply ravishing and the paintings by Francesco Clemente are amazing. Anne Bancroft, ...

Royal Highness
I was so enraptured by the visual beauty the first time I saw this film, that I had to watch it again just to get the parts of the story that had passed me by. This is a complete masterpiece! Loaded with symbolism, high aestheticism, sharp wit, and deeply charming characters. The story, the art.....Five stars, on so many levels. Bravo!*****

A sweet glimse into the choices we make
I really enjoy this movie. A bittersweet movie definitely for women as most men I know would be asleep ten minutes in. A glimse into a woman's life showing two different paths and where her life would lead if she took one versus the other. You have to pay attention or you'll miss a few key things but it's one for chick flick nights or to watch alone when you need a girlie movie to pick you up.

Undiscovered gem
A Film I first saw in a little independent cinema in the Somerset city of Bath, expecting nothing, but finding my heart bursting from its seams as the film unfolded. A young American apprentice (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself amongst the snobbery of English literature circles, struggling for a space in the sun of acknowledgement, when he discovers secret love letters written by a Victorian poet ...

twisted
Michael Douglas is so convincing as a cold, calculating criminal/big business man, who hatches a scheme to do away with his cheating wife. Since the other man in the picture is also quite deviant, the plot gets complicated and things don't work out as planned. The result is an intelligent thriller that will draw you into the intrigue and keep you guessing as to what will happen next. ...

A little 2-dmensional, but the singing will knock your socks off!
"Duets" is what my cinematically aware friends call a "sleeper". Most people in my circle never heard of it, but when they see it, enjoy the heck out of it. What makes it great is (1) the singing and (2) the amazing assemblage of acting talent, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Giamatti, Maria Bello. And Huey Lewis isn't bad, either. The biggest flaws are Gwyneth's gangly, toothy, ...

Dysfunctional childhood one would not wish to anyone
Several years ago, I attended C-SPAN's book tour in Chicago. Amongst many writers promoting their upcoming books was Augustin Burroughs. Although I never read his work, I knew his name and that he had a best selling memoir out -- at the time, when people were fabricating their own. I guess Augustin's childhood was such a preposterous one that other writers tried to match it to some degree by ...
