Klaus Maria Brandauer

Sterling Ent, 2005

What a strong child.
This movie is so moving. It is always amazing to me what people who survived the Holocaust did. In this case a small boy. I do not want to ruin the story for you in any way. If you love to se people helping people and the triumph of the human spirit then this is a must see.

Bonhoeffer24 reviews
Eberhard Bethge, Klaus Maria Brandauer

FIRST RUN FEATURES, 2004

Living upon what he believed
Bonhoeffer was a German Christian theologian who worked during WWII in the Resistence against Hitler. He was imprisoned during the last years of the war, and little before the fall of Berlin he was killed. In prison he wrote his famous "Letters", his first book that I read, and which is a must read companion book to this dvd. This is an excellent documentary, not only about the man, but about ...

Never Say Never Again191 reviews
Sean Connery, Klaus Maria Brandauer

MGM (Video & DVD), 2000

Mr. Bond is older but just as good!
Sean Connery is such a rugged and convincing agent that his obvious "advancing years" only serve to enhance his performance as the greatest superspy on the big screen! Excellent!

The Russia House29 reviews
Sean Connery, Michelle Pfeiffer

MGM (Video & DVD), 2001

Checking Out The Cracks in Glasnost
The movie "Russia House," starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer, is based on the spy novel of the same name, by that master spy-meister, the British John LeCarre. It's a very acute look at Russia, just as their "Glasnost," policy of openness begins to end --but not quite-- the cold war. The talented British playwright Tom Stoppard adapted the script, largely faithful to the novel. The ...

White Fang59 reviews
Klaus Maria Brandauer, Ethan Hawke

Walt Disney Video, 2002

Wonderful family movie...
An excellent movie to watch with the family. There are some intense scenes in the beginning but the movie as a whole can be viewed by all. It is an exciting story of how a young man follows in his fathers footsteps to pan for gold. Along the way he makes friends and a few enemies. The movie brings the young man and the dog along their paths at different times in their lives. The ending is great.

Druids61 reviews
Christopher Lambert, Klaus Maria Brandauer

Sony Pictures, 2001

Take the good things from this movie
It seems that historically based movies suffer from the critics as much as horror features do. While this is not an outstanding piece of cinema, it succeeds in showing the last days of the Roman campaign against gaulic celts. Acting is not very good (Christopher Lambert never been a good actor), but I liked the scenary and the movie pace. At the end, an entertaining movie where you learn some ...

The Bible - Jeremiah21 reviews
Andrea Occhipinti, Omar Lahlou

Lions Gate, 2000

Biblically Accurate and Wonderfully Inspirational - Highly Recommended
This made for TV movie does a wonderful job of translating the Old Testament book of Jeremiah to the screen. This is the last in a series of TV movies on various Old Testament books, and is probably the best of a great series. There are several things that struck me about this movie that I would like to share with potential buyers. First, and very importantly, this story sticks very close to ...

Introducing Dorothy Dandridge39 reviews
Halle Berry, Brent Spiner

Hbo Home Video, 2000

Love Dorothy Dandridge
I love both Dorothy Dandridge and Halle Berry. I have "Carmen" in which Dorothy stars so I was eager to see how Halle Berry handled the role. Halle did a wonderful job and the resemblance is astonishing! I feel the movie followed Dorothy's life to the letter and would recommend this movie for anyone who loves either of these two actresses.

Colonel Redl2 reviews
Klaus Maria Brandauer, Gudrun Landgrebe

Anchor Bay

Excellent Film but DVD Shortchanges
Colonel Redl is an excellent film. I purchased the Korean-made DVD. It does provide a good quality picture, German audio, and optional English or Korean subtitles. The reasonable box cover picture is different from the one shown here at Amazon. The only extra is a trailer. The big difference is in the duration of the film. Leonard Maltin's "Movie Guide" says the film lasts 149 minutes, the ...

Colonel Redl9 reviews
Klaus Maria Brandauer, Hans Christian Blech

Starz / Anchor Bay, 2001

The Secret Policeman's Fall
"Colonel Redl" is the middle film of Istvan Szabo's "trilogy of betrayal and political murder" that he made with the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer in the 1980's. All three films (including "Mephisto" and "Hanussen") are twisted classics, while Szabo's later 2000 film, "Sunshine" is a neglected epic masterpiece concerned with the same themes. Szabo, more than any other filmmaker I can think of, ...

Fate's intersections!
Three stories leaded by women. Three solvent actresses will make the best she can to solve her ethical and problems. Three different occupations: the devoted wife and her invalid husband, the winner photographer of the year and a cellist who faces a brutal drama familiar will fight against her fears, disappointments and disillusions with conviction, honesty following her respective bliss. ...

The Lightship4 reviews
Robert Duvall, Michael Lyndon

Paramount, 2005

great characters!
Any movie that is confined to basically one set is a tough sell. Life boat pulled it off. So does lightship. Just the interaction between Duvall, Arlis Howard and William Forsythe is worth the price of the tape. The bit where Dr. Casparry dances with Eddie Waxler while Gene Waxler looks on is so well done it looked real. This movie, much like Aliens, is chocked full of great characters, ...

"Heaven Evidently Has Great Plans For Me" ~ Manifestations Of Evil In The 20th Century
Note: German with English subtitles. Winner of the '82 Oscar in the category of Best Foreign Film, `Mephisto' provides a fascinating glimpse behind the most notorious regime of the 20th century and the elusive spiritual force that energized its rise to power. Klaus Maria Brandauer is brilliant in the role of Hendrik Hofgen, struggling actor in Berlin circa 1930's whose ability to rationalize ...
