Bleak, unsparing, jarring, and brilliant...
When I first saw this film, I have to admit I thought it was good, but not great. Further viewings (including a recent one) have made me changed my mind and hang my head in shame. This is one of the greatest Westerns ever made, and one of Eastwood's crowning achievements as a filmmaker and as an actor. The film is uncommonly dark, even for an Eastwood film. It starts off with a brutal ...

Much enjoyed
This dvd I loved from the first time I saw it! Everything about the family, and hardships really touched me. I tried to buy this movie from a buyer prior to this seller. When I received it in the mail it skipped and would not allow me to access any features at all. I quickly went online and found the exact movie I wanted and a friendly and helpful seller who was honest and willing to send it out ...

One Of The Best!
I'd love to tell you all about how great this movie is, just read the other reviewers who give it multiple stars and you'll know why. I'll just be straight, this movie was fantastic the day I saw it and still is years later. It's scary when you watch it alone and think "maybe" + has an engrossing storyline. To think they made this with such a low budget is beyond imagination since it's just that ...

Excellent set
This is an excellent set for the money. I checked at retail stores, and each individual item costs more. Of course, my 9 year old now knows all the words to all the songs. I particularly enjoy this version of Oliver Twist.

Ron White - You Can't Fix Stupid35 reviews
Ron White

Image Entertainment, 2006

A resounding Metaphor of our times
Ron white's relaxed "good old boy" style is disarming, but cannot cover up his quick wit and exquisite delivery. I put him and his storytelling ability in the class with a select few, Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby (at his best). This DVD proves that point. Even though it is a repeat of his basic stuff, the line: "You can't fix stupid" that appears in the title, is priceless, a virtual ...

Best chill out movie ever
I originaly watched this movie with my kids when they were little. It has been my all time favorite ever since. You can sit back, relax, not think and just enjoy the movie - and get some laughs in the meantime.

Sex and more
I found interesting about this movie is the "balance of interest" between the two people and how it shifts back and forth throughout the movie. I'd recommend an amazing book in this topic Sex and the Perfect Lover: Tao, Tantra, and the Kama Sutra

Chasing Secrets9 reviews

An Excellent Portrayal of Genuine Love for the Unloved.
There are three aspects of this movie that are outstanding. The first is the portrayal of an unwanted, hurting child. Newborn JoAnn was 'thrown away' by her hard-boiled grandfather, only to be returned in a basket. So, she grew up in a very dysfunctional family, unwanted and unloved. Anyone who has a heart for children will find that heart hurting, have a lump in their troat and maybe a tear ...

funny, realistic and insightful !!
I loved the movie! Chris Rock did a great job directing it. It was funny especially the viagra scene, everytime I watch it i laugh till I can't laugh no more!! It's so easy to relate to his character; although I'm female. Kerry Washington as nikki did a fantastic job!! charming sexy mischevious...just fun!! And of course Mr.Rock was funny as always but he didn't overdo it which sometimes ...

Expectation
My expectation of this film was low at the get-go: I'm not, nor have I ever been a "gamer" or had any interest in video games. I watched this film with a slight grimace, from the opening scene. That grimace's etiology soon changed from sarcasm to intensity. The cinematography caught my eye from the second scene. The set decoration is pristine and the overall setting of the film is perfect. ...

ANOTHER STELLAR PERFORMANCE FROM THE DIVINE MISS M!
This movie was Bette's best performance since "The Rose". Definitely worth seeing and having for your DVD library. The pain she went through when she decided she wanted to give her daughter up to a better life was just amazingly unselfish. I would have given it a 10 if there were 10 stars! I only wish the Divine Miss M would make more movies like this!

EMI Classics, 2001

Gershwin's masterpiece receives a performance worthy of it.
"Porgy & Bess" is George Gershwin's masterpiece and one of the 10 greatest operas ever written (see my list on Amazon). For a long time (and even now ... Leonard Maltin's review, e.g.) condescendingly called a "folk opera" (translation: "the Met won't do it"). Bollocks. True, Gershwin himself used the term, probably an attempt to slip it into acceptance through the back door. It's not only ...

Fantastic movie
Someone recommended this movie to us, and at first it looked like it was going to be one of those low-budget looking old movies, but it actually starts out in the past, then jumps to the present and is quite well done. It was a fascinating movie, and our whole family liked it (2 adults, 2 teens and a tween). It gave us something to think about, specifically how many guidelines that the secular ...
