Gilmore Girls - The Complete Seventh Season179 reviews
Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel

Warner Home Video, 2007

So sad to see this show go!
Gilmore Girls is a terrific series. It had a great 7 year run, it's very unfortunate that it ended when it did. The seventh season, in my opinion, isn't up to par with the rest, but it was also the first season not written by creator Amy Sherman Palladino - which in my opinion, was a huge loss for the show. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are two terrific actresses, and combined in this series, ...

Stargate - The Ark of Truth433 reviews
Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping

MGM (Video & DVD), 2008

Excellent!
I am a true Stargate Fan! I have watched Stargate since it started in 1997 on Showtime, then on Sci-Fi channel. I have loved every episode, and The Ark of Truth was not a disappointment, I loved it!(I just wish it was on Blu-Ray). It was exciting to watched them finally kick some Ori booty. Worth every penny.

The Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 2: 1937-193929 reviews
Three Stooges

Sony Pictures, 2008

Comedy Classics finally released the right way
The Three Stooges shorts are FINALLY getting their just due by being released in chronological order and with superb picture quality and sound. This is definitely where the stooges hit their stride and each of these comic geniuses developed his individual role in the trio. Moe established himself as the leader who was so sharp with a verbal or physical assault. Larry was the neutral one who ...

Dexter - The First Season324 reviews
Michael C. Hall, Erik King

Showtime Ent. / Paramount, 2007

great, bloody fun
There are so many reviews here, and I am sure everyone will say something that might spoil it for the many who have not yet seen every episode. So my review will refrain from details. I stumbled onto watching Dexter on a regular tv channel recently. It was originally a Showtime series that was being promoted to lead viewers to the new upcoming season 3, which premiers September 2008. I ...

Men in Black [Blu-ray]221 reviews
Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones

Sony Pictures, 2008

It's a bug-a-boo
People go through life oblivious to the reality around them. As pointed out in this movie, at one time everyone knew the world was flat; and now everyone knows we are alone in the universe. But what if we are wrong? Who will protect us? "Men in black used to be the term for the bad guys. This movie shows they are our last line of defense. This is a fun movie and there are many great actors to add ...

Rome - The Complete First Two Seasons26 reviews
Rome

Hbo Home Video, 2007

A Visit to an Alien World
First a comment to those who downlisted the series based on the illogic of its pricing: I thought these comments were for critical comment on the quality of the production. It would make better sense to "downlist" this excellent series of films based on the quality of cardboard used in the box. Second for the gentleman who states that the film is not for "Right-wingers" or "Christian ...

Smallville - The Complete Seventh Season21 reviews
Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum

Warner Home Video, 2008

Smallville Season 7
Another great season packed with new surprises however,I don't see the logic behind having an 8th season (not just because Lex & Lana aren't going to be in many episodes next season) because as a former comic book reader/collector, Clark is a bit beyond the age of the comic book heros' departure from the farm to head up to the fortress (?; why did they destroy it?) to hone his powers and become ...

Stargate - Continuum1 review
Ben Browder, Michael Shanks

MGM Entertainment, 2008

Finally on Blu-Ray!
Any Gate fan should be excited for this product because it marks several milestones in the Stargate franchise. First, and most obvious, it's the first of any of the television products to be released in Blu-ray. With SG-1 and Atlantis coming soon I'm excited to see what they're going to look like, but this will be Hi-Def out of the box. It's amazing to see how far this show has come in funding. ...

A Clockwork Orange (Two-Disc Special Edition)759 reviews
Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee

Warner Bros. Pictures, 2007

A great work
Although I have heard that this movie is not one of Kubrick's best movies (Dr. Strangelove and 2001 get that credit) in which I might agree, this movie is a better movie than 95% of the crap that comes out - and is top 25 on my list. The story is classic Kubrick - dark, futuristic, with great music, great costumes, and a bit of dark sense of humor.

Warner Home Video, 2005

My all time favorite movies...
I fell in love with The Thin Man totally on accident. My dad happened to catch it on PBS one afternoon, and about half-way through, it caught my attention. When it was all done, I knew I had to see it from the start. I have now watched it many, many times (since I first saw it over 12 years ago). In fact, this movie was what helped me convince my hubby ( a previously die-hard action flick ...

New Title 1 A Walk Through Life by Duane Ashley PooleWelcome Home Roscoe Jenkins is a great comedy with some star entertainers Including Monique, Cedric The Entertainer, Mike Epps and Michael Clarke from Green mile. Hawaii Five-O - The Fourth Season7 reviews

Paramount, 2008

Another great season, another great DVD set!
Hawaii Five-0: The Fourth Season delivers more of what we love most about the show in 24 exciting remastered episodes. All of the episodes are once again digitally remastered, looking very pristine for shows from 1971 that are 37 years old. The only hint of grain is in the occasional piece of stock footage that appears in the episodes. Despite the now ubiquitous disclaimer on the box, none of ...

Jack Angel, Bob Bergen

Disney/Pixar, 2002

FOR MONSTERS ONLY! A CLASSIC MONSTER STORY!
I love animated films and Monster Inc. is no exception. It's got great animation, characters and a well thought out story, but it might be a little too intense for the youngest viewers. Classic monster buffs will catch lots of winks and nods to the days of yesteryear in this irresistible and funny film. It might do your young children good to see this with an adult to help them get over 'the ...

Persepolis22 reviews
Chiara Mastroianni, Catherine Deneuve

Sony Pictures, 2008

"Freedom always has a price"
"Persepolis" is an animated film based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel of the same name about her childhood in Tehran during the last Iranian revolution and coming of age after emigrating to Vienna. It is an extraordinarily ordinary story about an average woman coming to terms with herself and with the world around her. Did I say "average woman"? My bad. I meant dynamic, ...

Black Hawk Down [Blu-ray]1007 reviews
Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor

Columbia Pictures, 2006

A Story of Modern Warfare
Black Hawk Down is indeed a story of modern warfare. Even though it occurred 15 years ago, there is really no other comparable, true-life story of the modern U.S. military in action against an enemy that is well-matched, with sheer numbers facing technological superiority. It is for this reason that I bought the 3-disc edition, to get the extra documentaries and commentaries. The former I've ...
