A little unfair...
I think the above review is a tad unfair. Just because one individual has seen all of the DVDs content on sites such as YouTube, etc (before it got taken down!) doesn't make a DVD rubbish. I too had seen most of the content before but found it nice to have it all on one disc that I can watch whenever I like without worrying about Prince trying to shut me down! And it's pretty damn cheap too... I ...

I believe I have some insight into this whole aspect ratio controversy. For many years, filmmakers filmed movies in something called "Super 35." The final, unedited and uncropped raw footage looks something like the old Chevrolet symbol, in that each scene was framed in both widescreen AND fullscreen ratios. The widescreen crop, of course, was released to theaters, but the fullscreen crop was ...

Moody, elegant, perfect!
Not being a fan of Helena Bonham Carter, costume dramas, or Henry James, I purchased this DVD because it featured Venice. Now I can't wait to see it again. I was completely riveted. The growing sense of tension,as Kate manipulates circumstances to suit her own ends, and then becomes a victim of her own maneuvering, is hard to shake even several days after I saw the movie. I did not feel ...

Excellent Western Movie!
I thought that after Lonesome Dove, no movie would get my attention especially if the original actors weren't in the sequel. After the first 5 minutes into watching Return To Lonesome Dove, I was riveted into the story, the characters, and the constant moving of the film. I rate this move 5 stars. All the actors did a wonderful job of telling another story from Larry McMurtry's moving saga of ...

You've Never Seen Lonesome Dove Like This!
I pre-ordered this Blu-ray disc when I saw that it was going to be available. I was sceptical as to how much better it would actually be than the DVD version that I already owned. Let me tell you, it is COMPLETELY different. Seriously, the clarity, film quality and Dolby 5.1 surround make this Blu-ray a MUST HAVE for any fan of this Western epic! It is in widescreen for the first time, and ...

Excellent entertainment for the buck.
OK, I'm addicted to this series. I love westerns and this gave me my fix! If you loved the original Lonesome Dove, this is the life of Woodrow Call's son, "Newt". I just want to know if there are any more of the series because I'm hanging out wanting to know what happens next with Newt and Mattie.

REWARDS REPEATED VIEWING AND SYMBOLIST READING
Read this Biblically and the metaphors come clear, from the Annunciation all the way through the Resurrection to the Ascension. Even Eden. God the Creator and Father sends unto the Virgin the joyous Holy Spirit of Love through the image of a Dove, and she gratefully, graciously, finds life. I can say that not as a spoiler but as an interpretation or even exegesis. The Resurrection of the ...

A wonderful overview of the band's short career
This arrived in the mail for me from amazon.ca on a day that I was home sick with the flu -- and it brightened my spirits significantly! From the on-screen menu onward, this DVD immerses you in a special place of the band's creating. The concert is quite good and nicely mixed in 5.1 (could've used a stronger drum mix, though), and the documentaries and videos are both excellent. Make sure to look ...

For Helen's fans only
This is the movie that every Helen Slater fan will want to have in his DVD collection. The bad thing is that this DVD edition has no features at all, not even a chapter menu. I can't understand why someone would produce a DVD without the basic features of a DVD, as the scene selection. But the picture quality is very good and the colors sharp what not happen with the VHS edition. This movie has ...

The untamed glory of the Old West as it really was returns when Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years saddles up for another season of high-spirited episodes, with a new look and an exciting cast of characters struggling to survive on the wild frontier. The year is 1880, Curtis Wells, the locale of Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years, is now a boomtown on the Montana frontier. When neighboring Sweetwater was left in ashes by a prairie fire, its whores ...

Lonesome Dove the series was one of the best westerns that I have ever watched. It was a little confusing in relating this series to the other parts of the story because in the other parts (Lonesome Dove the movie and Commanche Moon) The characters are played by different persons. All in All, I highly recommend "the series" and found it necessary to buy all of the entire set.

Great family movie!
I saw this movie years ago on the Movie Channel and I've been looking for it on DVD ever since. I wish they would release it in the USA format. I'm sure they'd get a lot of sales around St. Patrick's Day if not at other times of the year.

Answers some questions
For those of you who loved the entire production of Lonesome Dove, this series answers the question from the "REturn to Lonesome Dove", Where does Newt go? We loved the series so far and I think it's pretty good. It's money well spent. It is not the re watchable effect the others have, but after all it is a series. It appears to be sensitive to some issues like modern mixed race couples, which ...
