The Ranger, The Cook and a Hole In the Sky 7 reviews Sam Elliott, Ricky Jay
Platinum Disc, 2005
Better Than "A River Runs Through It"! Superb Movie!!! First off, I would like to make it clear: this is not a western or adventure story.
As a fan, like many Montanans, of Norman Maclean I could not be more happy with this movie--unless it had actually been filmed on location here in Montana. The short story about the last summer Maclean worked for the Forrest Service--1919--is followed almost to the word in the movie. Sam Elliot gives one of ...

Tuck Everlasting 132 reviews Alexis Bledel, Jonathan Jackson
Walt Disney Video, 2003
A family discovery for a single man teacher As a substitute teacher in a middle school English class, I was left this movie to show the class. I knew nothing about it, but I got caught up in its innocent (but never simple-minded) charms. I had to stay late after school to see how it ended! I did not know that Disney had returned so strongly to G and PG rated movie-making. Yes, it is a bit sentimental, but life needs a bit of that, and ...

Holes (Widescreen Edition) 230 reviews Shia LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver
Walt Disney Home Entertainment, 2003
Holes A klutzie boy deals with being falsely imprisoned in a boys camp setup in the desert. He learns how to deal with bullies and comes out ahead. He learns how to forgive and stand up for justice when it is necessary. There is a bit of bad language but for the most part this is a good movie.

What the Bleep!? - Down the Rabbit Hole (QUANTUM Three-Disc Special Edition) 1240 reviews Marlee Matlin, Elaine Hendrix
20th Century Fox, 2006
We are all connected, we are one. I'd already seen "What the Bleep", but the second film took it another step. The assertion that down at the electron level it's nothing but possibility is amazing. Further that electrons can show up in multiple locations at the same time and have knowledge of its other location(s) tells me that we are all "entangled" whether we like it or not. So if I hit you I'm actually hitting me. For ...

The Hole 59 reviews Thora Birch, Desmond Harrington
Buena Vista Home Video, 2004
interesting interesting this movie is. you'll find yourself CONSTANTLY saying "why did she do that?!" or "why did he do that?!"...i said it to myself so many times in the movie that i almost couldn't concentrate. but it's a great movie anyways. just don't think about why he/she did what they did and just focus on the main part of the movie and i think you may enjoy it. i loved it.

Very Good Sci-FIc "B" movie. If you're really a sci-fic fan, then this is really a pretty good "B" movie. Of course it's not an Alien or Star Trek. I liked it, and I'm not a rainy day sci-fic fan, either.

Hoot (New Line Platinum Series) 47 reviews Luke Wilson, Logan Lerman
New Line Home Video, 2006
An Excellent Film This film is truly family friendly and fun to watch from beginning to end. Not filled with the typical Hollywood schlock which makes it better than any alleged blockbuster. Perfect for tweens but, to be honest, it is probably TOO intelligent for most adults. It goes to show what a little inspiration and a positive outlook can accomplish. It is good to see that not all idealism is dead in this ...

Ace in the Hole - Criterion Collection 61 reviews Kirk Douglas
Criterion, 2007
See Kirk Douglas act like a total ace-hole! In 1950 Billy Wilder was riding high. Fresh off the enormously successful Sunset Boulevard, the German-born Wilder decided to make a very different film; one somewhat critical of the society of his new home, the United States. That film was called Ace in the Hole.
The movie concerns Kirk Douglas as a down-on-his-luck reporter who has been fired from just about every major newspaper in the ...

The Black Hole 170 reviews Ernest Borgnine, Joseph Bottoms
Walt Disney Video, 2004
classic This movie gave me nightmares as a kid. Disney shows us one of its dark sides with an awesome performance. Maximillion is the scariest robot ever dreamed up. The Cygnus is such a cool space ship. I dont think they had any science advisors for this move which makes it way out there.

A Hole in One 1 review Michelle Williams, Meat Loaf
Fox Lorber, 2005
A black comedy that asks the age old question: is a lobotomy a good thing? I have been checking out movies in which Michelle Williams appears for the past couple of months and have come to the conclusion that she is one of the best actresses working in Independent films. It is not just her performances but also her choice of roles that I find interesting. Since Williams received the Best Supporting Actress award at the Critic's Choice ceremonies tonight for her role ...

Strange things done in the midnight sun A really good movie. The setting is wonderful. And Sam Elliott is, well, he's Sam Elliott. For the most part it is historically accurate. I think Robert Service would have approved.

A Hole in the Head 12 reviews Frank Sinatra, Edward G. Robinson
MGM (Video & DVD), 2001
Frank Capra's "Hole in the Head" I originally saw this movie as a kid and enjoyed it then. Now I find close to 50-years later that it holds up very well. I never saw a Frank Capra movie that I did not like. This was not one of his best. But it is still very enjoyable.

the successor to hoop dreams despite the opening scene, the movie was facinating. it interested me so much that last summer i went to nyc to see if i could see the kenny kings in action. i was in luck. they were playing in a game at west 4th street. booger had some of the best moves i have ever seen. it is a wonder that some nba team doesnt pick him up. i plan on going back next summer.

****** BEST MOVIE - Ordered to have a family get together movie I saw this movie and it is very good. The characters blend to create a story that is full of feeling, showing that each person has needs and desire to find happiness.
I could watch this movie a dozen times and it would be difficult to say which part of the movie or character is my favorite.

Ace in the Hole (1951) (Import All Region) Robert Arthur, Porter Hall
PD Entertainment, 2007
Charles Tatum, a down-on-his-luck reporter, takes a job with a small New Mexico newspaper. The job is pretty boring until he finds a man trapped in a mine. He jumps at the chance to make a name for himself by taking over and prolonging the rescue effort, and feeding stories to major newspapers. He creates a national media sensation and milks it for all it is worth. Nominated for the Oscar for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, Billy Wilder, ...

The Hole 9 reviews Hsiang-Chu Tong, Hui-Chin Lin
Fox Lorber, 2000
Unique, wonderful, charming, funny, disturbing--what a film! Tsai Ming-Liang is truly a unique talent. In The Hole he's envisioned life at the end of the 20th century in Taipei, beset by a bizarre combination of endless rain and a very weird viral plague that leaves its victims sneezing, crawling around like roaches, and avoiding the light. In a rundown apartment building live a single man and, directly underneath him, a single woman, both in their late ...
