Fantastic Satire starring Martin Mull, Tuesday Weld, Tom Smothers, Christopher Lee, Sally Kellerman ....
... and a wonderful ensemble cast including Stacey Nelkin, Peter Bonerz, Bill Macy and other excellent comic actors. (I do hope amazon will revise its listing of the lead actors at the top of this page). This is a brilliant satire of "new age" life in Marin County, California in the 1970s, with hilarious dialogue and situations throughout. Martin Mull and Tuesday Weld make an unlikely but ...

Wild in the Country
This has got to be Elvis' best picture to showcase his acting talent over his great singing. It is almost what would have been considered a coming of age film of the 50's, not unlike "Rebel without a Cause." Super cast members to support his lead. Great film to see with the family. In noway would this be a chic flic or teenage love story. It is adult storyline completely.

Deeply Moving and Inspiring
I found it to be a delightful "coincidence" that this movie arrived in the mailbox on a Tuesday, of all days. This was just the first of a series of moments of delight as a dying teacher named Morrie teaches the greatest lesson of all: life. His student is Mitch, a workaholic who is afraid of death, crying and love. This movie will undoubtedly make you want to kick up your heels and enjoy ...

As Good As I Remembered
I haven't seen this film shown on TV for several years and I'm always looking for it, so as soon as I found out it was being released on DVD, I ordered it immediately. Sometimes old, well-loved movies are a big disappointment when viewed years later - maybe they're associated with a happy time in one's life, or tastes may have changed - whatever the reason. Happily, I found this wasn't the case ...

Stunning portrayal of wasted human lives
Director Sergio Leone has produced an ambitious, complex, and moving portrayal of Jewish gangsters in the early 20th century. When the aged former mobster Noodles Aaronson (Robert DeNiro) is summoned back to New York, memories of his childhood gang and subsequent rise in organized crime resurface, as does the mystery of what happened to the money the gang had been pooling since their first days ...

Thief
With its snazzy visual style and moody urban atmosphere, Mann's first film was a thrilling example of the director's unique approach to portraying tough-guy anxiety. In perhaps the finest lead performance of his career, Caan inhabits the role of the middle-aged gem snatcher with ease and even poignancy, as we watch his white-picket dreams go down the drain. Terrific performances by Weld, Jim ...

Divorced, Going thru a child custody fight?
Falling Down DVD Joel Schumacher's 1992 movie "Falling Down" is a chillingly powerful movie that seems to get often misinterpreted. Don't get the wrong idea, there definitely is substance to this movie--it's not just some kind of freak show. Michael Douglas, in a spellbinding performance, plays William Foster, a man who totally collapses emotionally while stuck in traffic one morning. He ...

One the the Best Fims of the Decade
John Converse (Michael Moriarity) plays a morally beaten combat photographer whose idea of a bold, life-changing move is to smuggle a highly profitable quantity of heroin back into the States. Naive and over-his-head,Converse enlists the help of his much more streetwise friend, merchant marine Ray Hicks, played brilliantly by Nick Nolte. The heroin makes it to Oakland and things go wrong as ...

Flawed, Highly Recommended
Hey-hey-hey! This "crazy" film helped me stay sane. KTLA TV in Los Angeles used to play it on a semi-regular basis in the bleary-eyed hours of the morning. That's when Lord Love a Duck first did its magic and made me see the light. Of course, since then, it's been on VHS and DVD (with a bonus auto-bio on director George Axelrod), so now there's no excuse but to put aside everything and see ...

A Laugh RIOT!
I'm a huge fan of bad Drive-In style biker flicks and this one is one of the best (worst)! I love the cheapness of it all. Two cops jump out of a squad car and the driver is in a motorcycle cop's uniform, complete with helmet! A "bad guy" gets decapitated and as the girls stand over the headless body you can see a well positioned light post hides the actor's head to give the illusion of ...

This is one of Al Pacino's best roles in any of his movies. The entire cast was outstanding and well directed. It has GREAT lines, and you'll laugh a lot. Also touches real life stuff and softens the impact of places where maybe you can laugh at yourself and keep on going. Light hearted and fun. EVERYONE should see Author! Author!

Give me my unrated dvd version now!!
I have always loved this movie, it has 3 young stars, 2 of which aren't really huge stars, but Nikki Katt was a talent that went long unnoticed. And don't get me wrong, Jeremy london and Alicia the hottie are both VERY good in this movie. Everything about this movie is really good except for the story unfortunately. The story didn't have much substance but didn't need to. It has a simple ...

Great sequel to Peyton Place
Return to Peyton Place begins with Rosemary Clooney singing the beautiful title song,(she sings it faboulously, and she is featured here because her then husband Jose Ferrer is the director (also see his State Fair..a hilarious mess) the Franz Waxman melody that enhanced so much of the 1957 film, Peyton Place. Then you get a whole new cast, and Carol Lynley, writing a book about Peyton Place with ...

Great comedy with vibrant Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman and Joan Collins
This satiric look at 50s life in Putnam's Landing, NY is hilarious. A rocket trip to outer space, a reenactment of the Puritan Landings, Joan Collins trying to seduce Paul Newman, and you know he wantes Joan at times, many times. Joanne Woodward thowing TV Dinners into her wall oven for her children who are hollering all the time in front of a Sylvania TV with that awful white glow around it. On ...

Great movie! Unusual, character-driven narrative. Brilliant acting.
I don't know what Amazon has against this film. This was another spur of the moment buy, and again I wasn't disappointed. The acting is excellent--everyone is terrific in their role, especially Weld and Peck, who each play off the other's hidden agenda quite well. They're both manipulative and decitful, but she's the more "honest" in only trying to help her family. On the other hand, Peck's ...

Relate-able Dysfunction
I loved this movie! I saw John Prine in concert and he mentioned it, or I would have never found it, nor purchased it. It was never released at the theater, straight to video from what I understand. Anyway, the movie is a great story of this southern dysfunctional family. The opening language is a little "rough" but ends up being pretty funny. I could relate to how the family acted ...
