Don't pay $200 for Canon's camcorder remote
This works fine on my Canon ZR10 camcorder--they want more than $200 for their remote, but their remote is also a LANC, so this is a much cheaper alternative. Note that the newer Canon camcorders do not have a LANC connector, it looks similar to a small stereo connector but smaller.

The SU-800 is an essential item when using flash photography. I know the SB-800 can also be used as a 'Master' unit to fire additional flashes, but it can prove to make the camera top heavy. Bought this as a replacement for my Sony DVD player remote which was damaged by battery leakage (my fault). Works the Sony TV and DVD player well. Keep in mind that it does not control an open/close function for the DVD player like the original DVD remote. Worked well for me
Looking at all the other reviews, I got the feeling that this remote is getting a bit of a bum rap. Admittedly, I'm only using it to control my Sharp TV and a JVC DVD/VCR combo, but it works flawlessly. It also figures out that if you are touching volume up/down you want to change the volume on the TV (I thought you'd have to hit the TV button, then do volume changes).

This is the only remote I have ever found that can control every AV componet I have. Every key is programmable, and it even can control my remote fan and blinds.
The only downside is the small screen is a little hard to se with old eyes, and the programming can be tedious, but since its non-volitale, once you get it programmed, it will never change.
