The Excellent. Battery or no battery, you have light and radio. If you have some AAs to stoke it with you won't have to crank it. The radio was a gift and a treasure since. In an emergency it will give information using batteries, wall plug or wind-up. I live in SE Wisc. and listen to Chicago AM on Sangean ATS-909. On some stations,I get 1/2 bar signal strength without the Kaito ant.When I plug it in and turn it on, I get full signal strength.I haven't tried SW yet but will just to see how it works and some night time AM dxing. This item works very good. CONS: it only runs on batteries. It has two states; ON or CHARGING.
