A Life Changer

Like many other reviewers, I am rating this book as high as I can because it actually changed my life--it gave me a new way of looking at money, things, shopping, ego, status, and time. It is NOT a budget book. It is an attitude-changing book. Because of this particular book combined with much thought, I decided to retire early and work part-time, to live very modestly and within my means (most of the time)and to quit wanting more stuff. My day is now my own, every day is a holiday if I want it to be, and I don't even know when the work-week begins. This one is a must-read.

I can quite honestly say this book has changed my life...

...not only in a monetary way but working through my finances and attitude toward spending and owning things has caused me to examine why I have the values I do, how they were formed, and if I want to keep them or not.

I've been following the steps in the book for several months and have seen steady progress. My only regret is that I didn't start this 20 or 30 years ago.

If you're going to buy this, consider borrowing the book from the library first before making a purchase. I read my copy from the library and decided this would be a lifeguide I wanted to own. Don't ever waste another dollar--or accumulate too many possessions--ever again. Once you read the book, you'll understand why I'm saying that.

some free advise....

By definition it seems all books written on personal finance are as inspiring as reading the phone book only spiced up a bit with neat little graphs and pie charts. However, what this book does is take a step back from the usual sermon about compound interest, dollar cost averaging, putting ten percent away, (you are getting bored already, aren't you?) and address the cost of money as well as the value of money. More than a financial book this is more of a practical philosophy book that considers quality of life as much as net worth. I would recommend you buy this book, but as a practical consideration, if you are trying to control spending, a trip to the library may prove wiser.
