A Great Book For Guidance of Good Eating Habits!
This a great book to guide you in the
healthy
way of eating. It proves you don't have to starve yourself to lose or maintain your
weight
in a healthy way. Try it-It's good for all ages! My daughter who is a young teenager is enjoying the balance of foods and is losing weight slowly which is the key to any
diet
! TRY IT YOU"LL LIKE IT!
It works, NO calorie counting, NO point counting, eat until you are satisfied!
A lot of these people who gave this book a poor score don't know what they are talking about! One lady said the meals are too difficult to prep, you don't have to follow the sample menu, you can eat whatever you want, and as much as you want, as long as it's on the list of approved foods! I don't like seafood at all so there is no way I could follow the meal
plan
s! One lady said all you can have is milk and eggs, actually all dairy (except low-fat cheese) is restricted the first 2 weeks, and milk is dairy! But you can have eggs, LEAN meats, fat free deli meats, seafood, most vegetables, low-fat cheese, nuts, pickles, sugar free jello, sugar free fudgsicles, and popsicles. I found it really easy to follow for the first week. The second week I was pretty sick of all the foods I had been eating but the
weight
loss kept
me motivated. After the 2 weeks you can have carbs again, only GOOD carbs, whole grains, fruit, etc. It does say if your weight loss stops you have been eating too many carbs and to try cutting back some until your weight loss resumes. Another guy said that the book says it's ok to go completely off the
diet
and when you gain weight again to go back to phase 1 again to lose the weight so it's un
healthy because
your weight is going up and down constantly, NOT TRUE! The book does NOT say it's healthy to do this, but what it does say is that we are afterall human and bound to give into temptation eventually. This is a lifetime long diet and nobody is going to not go overboard at one time or another! If you overdo it, say around the holidays and gain 5 pounds it says to go back on phase 1 for 1 week to reduce your cravings for the bad foods and sugar you've been eating. The book clearly does not want you to do this often! Another lady talked about the book saying that potatoes need to be eaten whole and not mashed or cut up and she said obviously people chew their food so that's ridiculous. She obviously missed the point of what the
doctor
was saying. Whole foods that have not been cooked, processed, refined, or broken down are healthier for you and your body will break it down and get all the good stuff out of the food that disappears when it is cooked, processed, etc. This is a great book, IT WORKS, it is NOT difficult to follow at all, you are never hungry because you eat until you are satisfied! One thing that is tough is giving up junk foods like pizza, chinese take out, fried chicken, but you must do that if you want to be healthy and lose weight. I think these things are a rare treat, only have a limited amount, and not on phase 1 of course. but this could trigger cravings for more junk so it's safer to eat a healthier alternative, homemade pizza on whole wheat crust, stir fry with wheat noodles, or parmesan crusted chicken sauteed in a little olive oil, Good luck to you...

I lost 10lbs in 1 week, no joke!
The last time I lost significant
weight
was in college drinking slim
fast
and running 20 miles a week. It sucked. I was always hungry. I didn't think I could stick to this
diet
plan until
I read the book and realized it was just a guideline on how to eat to alter your glycemic index. The book was an easy read for me (took about 3 hours) once I started I couldn't stop. Everything clicked. I did Phase 1 for 7 days and was able to put on my "pre-baby" pants for the first time! (I have a 1 year old) Then I got on the scale and realized I lost 10 lbs. It was the first weight I had taken off since giving birth! I didn't finish Phase 1 or go to Phase 2 cause I was happy with my results. I have since gone back to my old bad habits (lots of sugary, starchy junky food) and am ready to loose another 20 pounds and bring the "skinny girl" in my head to the mirror and get back into my college jeans so I am going to go back on it. I highly reccommend this if you have trouble sticking to other diet plans b/c you can eat as much as you want (within reason) just has to be what's on the list and you will loose weight.

The South Beach Diet
So far the book has been very helpful at realizing good
weight
loss
. I have a 'seefood' day once in a while but this book gets you back on track easily.
South Beach Diet
I found this
diet very
difficult to follow in the first stage. I was not eating enough greens, and I missed my fruits terribly. I had to restart twice because I ate a piece of fruit.
The
weight
loss
was mostly water at first, but boosted my ego.I am on the third week ,and there is real weight loss now, almost 15 lbs.
This is not just a diet but a life style.
