I Wish There were Moo-re Stories Like This

Getting my three-year old sit still to listen to my reading a book is simply priceless. Finding such a book for any price is difficult. This is the first book my daughter sat still for the entire book, cover to cover. Typing up this review for Amazon.com, click-clack, is a pleasure.

I think the real reason my daughter actually sat through for this book is because I loved reading this story. This is not the typical 'sky-is-blue' stuff, but a genuinely funny and moo-ving story of cows, who were simply cold at night and they would like Farmer Brown to provide them with electric blankets. What they do to get what they wish is a lesson in accountability.

Excellent Selection!

Cows that type? Get out of town! Well, these cows do type, and negotiate. Life in a barnyard could not be more interesting than in this precarious story of farm animals that take a stand to better themselves and their environment. I loved the expressions on the animal's faces when Farmer Brown reacts to their demands. 'Eyes wide open' certainly applies here. This is a read aloud must! Not since I read Animal Farm by Orwell, have I been completely captivated by farm animals.

In much the same way, my childhood dog Princess would 'demand' her evening meal have a bit of milk poured over her Purina. If my mother did not satisfy her imploring looks, she would push her bowl toward her ever so gently. She would not eat her food until the milk was applied. Just as Farmer Brown finally relinquished to his 'herd' of demands, so did my mother. Only then was there peace in our home. :-)

Excellent read aloud selection for all ages!

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type

Great book! I just wish it was clearer that it was a paper book and not card board (which are much more durable for a two year old). Also, would love to know age approprietness for books when buying.

Read it again daddy!

This is one of those books that gets read over and over and over. Unlike some other books which end up at the bottom of the drawer. My 5 year old son is also starting to read the book himself (I hear him on the monitor). The other books in is this series are just as good if not better.

An adult's review....

The book is a labor protest for better working conditions for Farmer Brown's cows with duck initially as a neutral intermediary. The ducks press (and get) their own work-place issues resolved later when farmer Brown capitulates to the cows demands. ;-)

This is a MUST have book for your child's library.

Read all of the books in this series

We love Doreen Cronin's books about the clever and crafty farm animals. Start with this one and read them all. I regularly give this book as a baby present.
