"The Book"

I read it for friends on a car trip. We laughed hysterically from Omaha to St. Louis which is probably something no one has ever done before. I loaned it to a friend and never saw it again. I tell people about how great it is and they don't believe me. I wish I could find another copy. I originally found mine in a bargain bin for 99 cents at a Kerr drug store in N. Carolina in '89.

The publishers really got it wrong when they let this gem go out of print. I read it in 1986 when it first came out and it was surely one of the funniest books of the year, and time has proven it to be the funniest of the decade. Weisbecker has the enviable ability to be hilarious and profound at the same time, with an imaginative ability that is stunning. There is also an unexpected sweetness to the book that appealed to me.. The plot --a physics professor is kidnapped and taken on a cosmic adventure by an obsessed, bizaaro narrator-- is deceptively simple yet completely cativating. Most marvelous are the unprecedented "time-travel foot-notes." If anyone knows how to get this book back into print where it belongs, I would be happy to order a carton or two.

Most Excellent!

One very cold rainy camping trip in the Dragoons...my friend brought a copy with her (not her own unfortunately) and started reading it out loud after I scoffed at the jacket blurb. Omigosh--it was funny! So we spent the entire day huddled in back of my pickup reading this book--I've never laughed so long or loud or frequently reading *any* book! I wish they'd put it back into print!!!

I give it a BIG BANG!

I have a copy of this lovely book! I really hate that it is no longer being published. I would really love to meet the author or to at least know how to contact him. This is one book you'll not put down 'til the end!

Reprint, Reprint, Reprint!!!

Lost my copy of this book a couple of years ago. I have been in mourning ever since. The most laughs I have ever had from a read.
