Everyone else has used all the great words!!
I thought this book fantastic! It covers virtually eveything anyone could want to know about
Welsh
Witchcraft
. It even has a short history of British Wicca, and the authors deal especially well with the historical material regarding Gardner. They give plenty of material to make their point without going off the deep end. Their views of ancient Druids and Welsh Witches are enlightening, with concise biographical material. This book will have a long life and will eventually be on the bookshelf of every Witch, Wiccan and Pagan, not to mention all libraries, schools, and colleges. I really can't say enough about this book. Well done, Taliesin, Merridden and even you Rhuddlwm!

Fantastic Book, A New Classic
Recently, I read The
Word
by Rhuddlwm gawr and have found it to be the most informative of any other Book on a specific tradition which I have in my book case. This book goes into great detail on many subjects whereas others may briefly outline them. By reading it, I could tell that many years of research and study have gone into The Word's creation. Reading the entries and topics of which I am familiar with, I know that The Word is giving reliable and accurate information, not hastily put together. The Word is written in Rhuddlwm Gawr's easy-to-read style and is a veritable encyclopedia of
Welsh
Witchcraft
. This book is definitely far superior to others on the subject. The topics shown far surpass any content found within other books. It reveals as much history as possible of the topic and subject matter and not a mere definition. It is authoritative, expansive, insightful and entertaining. I expect this volume will sit alongside many others as essential reading for those with serious interest in Welsh Witchcraft. Although there is something here for everyone, it is a rather large book with over 400 pages - and perhaps you might want to tackle his other two books in the trilogy first, The Way and the Quest. Those Rhuddlwm-bashers, should actually read the book first before slandering it, but they would never admit to lying about a book without reading it. A lot of Christians do the same thing when a new movie or book is published which disagrees with their ideas.
I definitely recommend the Word for any serious student of the Craft

Gulp! This is a big book, and seems to have everything
First, let me say that I am a
Welsh Witch
, but NOT a member of rhuddlwm's tradition. If you are interested in that tradition, they are at: http://www.tylwythteg.com that is where I found links to the book. That said, I believe that this would be a great book for someone with a LOT of experience in
Witchcraft
. I also believe that Rhuddlwm's book isn't for someone who is trying to learn about Welsh Witchcraft to be a solitary practitioner. I think that it lacks explanations for some terms that a beginning Welsh Witch would not know without an explanation. I think that it's WONDERFUL for someone who has had a lot of experience and read SEVERAL books but I don't think this should be the absolute first book that should be read by someone interested in Welsh Witchcraft. I like the idea that it covers a WIDE range of topics, by telling a story of how the initiate (rhuddlwm) continued a journey journey which has taken him from initiation to starting a coven to being involved in a movement! And it calls your attention to some of the spiritual pitfalls. But, it seems to be aimed towards someone who is either part of or thinking of becoming a part of a Welsh coven and an ELDER! initiate. I believe that this would be great as a guide book for someone who has a teacher, IS a teacher or has quite a bit of experience, but for us beginning Witches and anyone who even has a slight interest in Witchcraft, I wouldn't recommend this book as the absolutely know all, see all book. Rhuddlwm's third book does wonders for me, but at times has left me with some confusion but otherwise, in general, it's a wonderful book. I hope that all people interested in becoming a Witch, even if they wish not to follow Rhuddlwm's religion, Dynion Mwyn, I believe, should consider this, but have some experience before considering to follow through with this book and take Welsh Witchcraft all at once. It's an expansive art, science, and religion but we must keep an open mind and consider all sources. Remember also that all authors who right these books realize that they don't know all and that they would want us, as readers to not take on a personality that would criticize others books simply because they don't compare with a book such as this. All in all, I believe that this is a great book, but read something a little more basic first, such as Scott Cunningham or Silver Ravenwolf before reading this one. This will help you clarify terms that you may see in this book that you don't understand and save you a large amount of confusion. No author is better than any other as far as their beliefs. The two other mentioned authors in this review, write understandably and light-heartedly. Basically, they break it down as simple as it could be...so after reading some of these basic books, if you wish to delve into Welsh Witchcraft more completely, this book is for you! Remember, always keep an open mind and criticize politely and with respect...this is called CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, not "this is a terrible book...yada yada yada." Welsh Witchcraft teaches us to be accepting and kind and most of all RESPECT those around you as you would nature itself.

What's The Word?
I am a
Welsh Witch
but not a member of the Dynion Mwyn. I am a third degree, 71 years old and was initiated by an initiate of pat crowther many many years ago. I have studied quietly these many years and watched the Pagan community grow and fragment. But one thing I don't think I can tolerate, is the trashing and bashing of a Witch by those who are not, but pretend they are. I met Rhuddlwm Gawr many years ago. I saw in him a true spirit of The Craft, not the money hungry pretenders of todays flash in the pan wicca. Gerald wanted us to band together and fight for our religion, not bash someone because its the latest thing to do or because we disagree with him. I have read all of Rhuddlwm's books over the years and have found them to be be just short of genus. Not that Rhuddlwm is a genus, but he was inspired by the Muse if anyone ever was. When I met him, he was a quiet unassuming writer who I am sure is saddened by the rubbish these welsh pretenders are heaping on him. In his early days I am sure he made mistakes in judgement, as we all have done, but in all my questioning of those I am familiar with who have trashed him, I have never gotten one concrete accusation from them. Ergo, a lot of wannabees will follow the leader like lemmings when it comes to "lets see who can say the worst about the victim...... I also believe that Rhuddlwm's books aren't for someone who is trying to learn about
Witchcraft
by themselves. I think that it lacks definitions for some terms that a beginning Witch would not know without an explanation. I think that this should not be the first book that could be read by someone interested in Welsh Witchcraft. Although it covers a wide range of subjects, it does so by telling stories to illustrate their importance. The book is aimed towards someone who has some familiarity with Witchcraft. I also believe that this would be great as a book for someone who is a teacher or has a great deal of experience. BUT, in general, I believe this is a wonderful book. I hope that all people interested in Welsh Witchcraft, would consider this book. And remember, always criticize authors politely and with constructive criticism, not "this is a terrible terrible book!" Hugely recommended.
