The best audition guide

This book contains everything one needs to know to sucessfully audition. As a young acting student, I am only beginning to use the resources provided within the text, but it will be of great benefit to any actor wanting to better himself. The stories and tips are amazing, fun to read and insightful. I only wish I had begun to use this book sooner.

This book has all the info. an actor needs to get the part.

With the simple steps of the guideposts, it most definitelymakes it alot easier to play the most challenging roles. I wasconfused on what traits a good actor/actress should have, now, I feel comfortable in every aspects of acting.

If you're into acting, you must own this book!!!

"Audition" is by far the best organized, and understandable acting book I've ever read. Not only can Mr. Shurtleff's guidelines be applied to auditioning, they are the fundamental building blocks for ALL character development. Mr. Shurtleff breaks auditioning down into 12 realistic, easy to achieve "guideposts". If you are a seasoned performer, or even mildly considering community theatre- Read "Audition"! They say 99% of professional acting careers is rejection- why not learn how to give your audition 110%?

The truth, and nothing but the absolutely brutal truth.

An eye-opening resource for actors. Auditioning requires a distinct set of skills and Shurtleff lays them out in bold print. His "12 Guideposts" provide a frame on which to build an effective and successful audition. Written by a life-long theatre professional, this no-nonsense how-to book, gives solid advice to every actor - no matter how experienced. Each chapter is filled with lessons taken from workshops, auditions, and life. My personal favorite was, "Observations from a Life in the Theatre". An absolute must have!
