ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND ********** 10 stars!

Karen Taylor's book is the only one of its kind. Written by a leading forensic artist, it is the definitive resource guide for a beginner or for an established forensic artist. It is articulate, concise and reader friendly. The step by step instructions, organization, and physical dimensions make it a perfect and practical guide book to have by your side as your working. (It's one of those rare books that will become beautifully worn and sensitively soiled as time goes on.)
Ms.Taylor's years of excellence in forensic art education are evident in this book, she covers ever aspect of the field with information that includes: the history of forensic art, facial anatomy, numerous case study examples, detailed instructions, and important issues of professional ethics and standards. Integral to this work is the section with Betty Pat Gatliffs expertise in the area of three dimensional reconstruction. The illustrations and photographs are interesting, well considered, and extremely useful.

I highly recommend this book.

The Best

Due to her years of on-the-job experience, her knowledge of law enforcement and forensic art, and her magnificent artistic abilities, this is by far the best book on forensic art and everything that it encompasses. Ms. Taylor not only relates all of her knowledge on this topic, but shares a multitude of information from other experts in the field. This book should be in the collection of every law enforcement agency, anthropology department and art school. As so many have already claimed - this is the Bible on forensic art!

Forensic Art and Illustration

After studying this book my drawing and sculpture has improved 100%. The things she covers in this book are not covered in any other textbooks I have seen or any classes I have taken. This book is a must for any serious portrait artist.

The only book of its kind on the market today.

This book is a "must read" for anyone intersted in the sculpture, contours, and aging of the human face. Ms. Taylor offers not only the mechanical skills necessary for recreation and identification, but also teaches the subtle skills and nuances that make each face individual. The case studies were particularly interesting and she also outlines how to conduct a successful interview. This book would be a bargain at twice its cost because the information contained within its covers is priceless!

Impressive and Practical

Ever wondered how from a skull, forensics can reconstruct the appearance of the deceased? This book shows you the process...

No doubt those in forensic science will find this book a true gem. Two thumbs up.
