Excellent

The book has great recipies to reproduce some of the best beers in the world. Tess and Mark's recipies and advise are excellent. I can't wait to brew more of these greats.

Excellent book; super tips, recipes in standard format

Clonebrews is a very well-written book for all levels of brewers. The genius of the book is that most or all recipes are designed to use light or extra light malt, thereby standardizing ingredients so that the specialty grains are the only malt variable which affects color and flavor of your beer. The recipes themselves produce excellent beer that is very close to the real thing. I've tried Murphy's Stout, Elm City Ale and one of their lagers with good success.

I WOULD KILL FOR THIS BOOK!

"I would kill EVERYONE in this room for a drop of sweet beer." This is because I am sitting here "COMPLETELY SURROUNDED BY NO BEER!" Once you read "Clonebrews" you will be familiar with the compelling force that inspired me to tell you about this wonderful book! As an amateur homebrewer with two years in the field and over 200 gallons of beer brewing experience; I can attest to the benefit and value of this fine text. Reading this book compelled me to make a thirty mile journey from my home to the MALTOSE EXPRESS. My endeaver was well fulfilled. I met Tess Szamatulski, one of the authors of the book. She was pleasant and professional, and her knowledge about homebrewing was astonishing! I highly recommend this book to every homebrewer!

Fantastic resourse for homebrewers

I have been getting my homebrew supplies from Mark & Tess' homebrew shop (Maltose Express, in Monroe CT.) for several years now & thus have had ample opportunity to try their recipes & get their advice on how to achieve a certain style in a homebrew. With this book, those homebrewers not fortunate enough to live nearby now have access to Mark & Tess' expertise. A big question often asked of homebrewers is whether or not they can make a beer like Heineken, Guinness, Bass, etc., etc. Now with this book a brewer can approximate the taste of his or her favorite beer at home. Thus far I've brewed nothing but good batches w/Mark & Tess' recipes. (Those who can ought to try their "Never Fail Pale Ale" in the June 1997 of "Brew Your Own" magazine.) Homebrewers can either follow the recipes in this book exactly, or experiment around some (at the very worst, you still have beer). Another item unique to this homebrew book, is that each recipe includes extract, mini-mash, or all-grain versions. That way, regrdless of which level you brew, from novice to all grain, you can pick up this book a start right away on any recipe. I also know that a great deal of reseach went into finding these recipes. For example, for Elm City Connecticut Ale, Mark & Tess spoke to two former brewers of the New Haven Brewery, as well as the man who created the recipe. I highly recommend trying this book and enjoying a fine clonebrew.

What great recipes for the homebrewer in this book.

The recipe instructions in this book are clearly written. The finished products (that I've tried so far) are as good as the beers (or better than) the beers that they imitate.
