Must have for any beginning knitter!
I highly recommend this
book
! It has great beginning
patterns plus
charts to change the patterns based on size, needles and yarn used. This is a must-add to your knitting library!
Very necessary part of a knitters library
I was so very sick of
patterns which
only worked for the specific yarn they were meant for, yarn which was never accessible to me or frankly more expensive than it was worth. This
book allows
you to use any yarn whatsoever you come across with whatever needles you feel like using, and to make what you'd like.

Disappointing
I was disappointed with this
book
. While it does, indeed, have a variety of
gauges
for what is
basic
ally one style of gloves, hat, and a couple of vests and sweaters....I was hoping for
patterns
of other things--a
knitters bible
, if you will. (Granted: my mistake.) Also, a number of the patterns are *only* for dpn's, which I hate. Options or ideas about how to use straight or circular needles instead would have made the book more valuable.

Great Book!!...
I've been looking for this
book
for years. I have an old Leisure Arts leaflet that has
basic sweater
patterns
for all
sizes from
6 months to a 50 inch chest - basic cardigans & pullovers with neckline variations in 3 or 4 weights of yarn. I found this enormously helpful when my children were small & kept wishing for similar books with more garments. Well, Ann Budd has answered my plea! This book & a good stitch dictionary are all any
knitter would
need to clothe their families forever. I especially appreciate it since I have a huge stash, much of it yarns that are no longer made. So obviously, no patterns are being written for them. I think that, if I had to give up all my knitting books but one, this would be the one I'd keep.
