A great read, well-written

To my taste, the best in the series yet, and I've read them all. A 5-star effort within the genre.

And a cliffhanger of a story that alternates between flashbacks to the summer of 1953 and into the heads of the people involved in the crime, and then back into the series' "present," in the late 1980s, where we hear the self-serving lies about the crime that come out of these characters' mouths. We watch, holding our breaths, as Kinsey ferrets out enough of the truth, bit by bit, to finger the killer.

Perhaps, however, it is time Kinsey was allowed to solve a crime without having to get almost killed herself. This has become the most overworked device in the series, one that I'd glady do without.

Nevertheless, what a joy to find a good mystery writer who not only spins a good yarn but really does write well.

Liked it but had problem with ending

OK..... I know who did it..but the way she came to the conclusion escapes me..I went back to read some of the killers chapters but and I think i know the motive but it was really not explained that well.if anyone could respond and let me the connections that would great.
