The first big new idea I learned appeared on page 35:
"It's also not helpful when parents respond with more intensity than the child feels...he didn't need the additional burden of having to cope with [the parent's] strong emotions."

How to talk so kids will listen & listen so kids will talk

I loved this book it provided alot of great detail and practical information to really communicate with your kids. I also recommend Parenting With Fire: Lighting Up the Family with Passion and Inspiration by Shmuley Boteach, More than a dad by Scott Anderson and The Ten Basic Principles of Good Parenting by Laurence Steinberg.

Everyone should read this book whether they have children, work with children or just desire to communicate on a higher level.

Because kids are people too

Wonderful parenting book that helps parents to listen and validate their children's feelings, involve children in creating solutions, and foster autonomy through building self-esteem and competency.

Very good resource

I really loved this book! It has alot of skills all parents could use. It benefits us and the kids to talk to our kids in a much more healthier way. I plan to read this book again as it has so much information, I couldn't take it in all at once.
