Better than expected

I knew I was getting a used book, but did not expect it to be in such good condition.

On to something...

While there obviously needs to be more research, I have to say that he is on to something.

I have had some curious dietary issues off and on for many years. I discussed it with both holistic and conventional nutritionists. I kept being told that what I'd observed about my own body wasn't right and why they were so sure it wasn't right. All that to say, I had not one source at that point that ever gave me this information other than my own research on my own body and response to foods.

A Holistic doctor told me that she thought she knew what the problem was, and, that if she was right, it would go against everything I'd been taught about nutrition (I was a vegetarian at the time). She recommended I get this book, told me she actually went to school with Dr. D'Adamo, and based on her own patient responses, that there seems to be something to his findings.

I was at the point that I'd try anything, so I bought the book, looked up my type, went to the grocery store and bought the recommended foods including the meats, while I read the book from cover to cover.

Low and behold, the observations I'd had about my own body regarding food and nutrition that I'd been telling all the other doctors and nutritionists for a few years, was layed out there in black and white under my blood type.

I can say that this book and the recommended diet has had a positive affect on me that was quite dramatic, and left my non-holistic doctors completely speechless. I do not have a weight problem, and I did not get this book or start the dietary recommendations because of being over weight. And, while I do think more research needs to be done to be sure, I think that he's on to something, whether for all people or just for the group who has nutrition issues that may be difficult to diagnose like mine were.

I have basically stuck this diet for my type for about 7 years now. One of the things that great about it is that he explains that there is room to stray as long as you eat from the right list the majority of the time. I've always done that anyway, so that was not difficult for me at all.

His recommendations are not harmful since his suggestions ask for you to focus your food choices in a particular direction not necessarily eliminate everything you may like. It is worth trying if you have any dietary issues in your life.

But, like all health related issues, you have to learn to listen to your body, eat healthy foods, and get plenty of the best forms of exercise for what your body can handle. That does not change ever. And, honestly, if we all did that, we wouldn't eat unhealthy foods in the first place because we'd all be so aware of how bad they make us feel. Taking care of yourself is a lifestyle, a commitment to ones self and your loved ones. Ignoring these things and then looking for quick fixes regarding weight or health will never work. But, for me, this book and its recommendations were exactly what my body needed.

right on

I am the only type O in my family, and I respond to foods very differently from my other family members. This book explains a lot. It is right on about how I would react to coconut, wheat products, diary products, oranges, etc... which are bad for me. It is also right about selzer water and plums. I've felt better since I started including them in my regular diet. I wish I read it earlier so that I didn't find out the hard way through trial and error. I'm not trying to lose weight, and I don't strictly follow the diet. But keeping the advice in mind has improved my health. It's also right about how I would respond to exercises. This book is worth a read for everybody whether you want to lose weight or not. Do yourself and favor and at least look at their website.
