This book deserves more than 5 stars!
If you have ever been abused or just think you may have been.Do yourself a favor and read this book .It will help clairify any confusing thoughts you ever have had on the issue. This is the first book from Lundy Bancroft I read I plan to liberate myself further and pick up everything he's written.
The Best Information on This Subject
By far the most authoritive information on emotional and physical abuse. The author's experience in dealing with the abusers helps you to see and understand how these people operate. I have read all of Patricia Evan's books on emotional abuse and this book by Lundy Bancroft was the icing on the cake.

Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men
This is a very good book for anyone working with people trying to servive domestic violence. However the book is very deep and I would not recom
men
d it to servivers unless they have really worked through all their abuse reactions.
Why does he do that? Inside the minds of angry and controlling men.
This was absolutely one of the best books on verbal abuse. It is chock full of the most current information on identifying and dealing with abuse. I have read many abuse books and this one is a must have if you are looking to learn about this topic. The other must have book is Patricia Evans' book "The verbally abusive man, Can he change?". These are the two best books on the topic and compli
ment each
other well.

Having been in abusive relationships and because I have done so much research and reading, this is the best book I ever read on the subject.
It is not written in a clinical sense but written in a way
that anyone
can understand the dynamics that make an abuser tic. What I really appreciate is that it is written by a man who was an abuser. He knows how an abusers mind works first hand.
After coming away from it you will feel relieved and validated and stronger.
Most wo
men that
are in or have been in abusive relationships are left to feel that something is wrong with them. You seek counseling as a couple and nothing seems to help. This book will explain all the whys.
You will also be provided with a rich resource area in the back of the book. A great read and a must for all who are or have been in any type of abusive relationship. Professionals can benefit from the information in this book too. I highly recommend this read.
