highly recommended

Funny AND practical!

This is my 1st Amy Sedaris book (unless you count Wigfield written with Stephen Colbert.. also funny) & I didn't expect it to be as hilarious as it was. She was able to make me laugh AND give practical advice on being a capable host as well as a proficient guest (I didn't know it could be considered rude to bring flowers to the host of a dinner party - but she makes sense). I did gag at the `genital washing' segment. I always read David's books, now I'll have to add her to my list of favorites too.

Rating: I gave this 4 stars which is high for me. I reserve 5 stars for the Grapes of Wrath, Crime & Punishment, etc.

Amy for president !!!

I took a double take when I saw this new hardback on display at our local Powell's bookstore! Amy has put A LOT of thought into this book and deserves a lot of credit for her creativity. She retains her sense of humor as well creates a wonderfully insightful cookbook. I normally hate to cook, but after reading this delictible cookbook, feel inspired to whip up a batch (of food/glint) that will (make me trip my tight little @*% off!) I love you Amy!!! You are the funniest lady in the world-my kind of humor! Please move to Portland, Oregon.
