TRAGIC LIFE

Anne Frank, a thirteen year old Jewish girl, has a typical life. She goes to a nice school and has many friends. But in 1942 things didn't go so well. The Nazis took over Holland; as a result, Anne's family fled to Amsterdam to go into hiding.

There is such a great deal of drama in this book that it makes it come alive. For example, Anne hides in an attic of a building for two years with hardly any food. If I hid in an attic for that long I would lose hope of becoming free from the Nazis. Could you imagine that she lives in an office building? The other family that she was living with had to bring food up to them because if they came out of hiding, they would get caught and sent of to a camp. When I read about her life in this book it was heartbreaking that she had to go through so much to stay away from the Nazis for so many years.

At the end of this book something surprising happens. You'll have to read this remarkable book to find out!

Anne Frank:The Diary of A Young Girl

My expectations for this book were pretty high. I have read a few other holocaust books and I was curious to see how this one would measure up to the rest. My expectations were fulfilled. I thoroughly enjoyed this diary. Having just read 'Night' by Elie Wiesel, I saw how completely different this book was. The main characters in both novels were dealing with the holocaust but in Anne's case she was not living in a concentration camp, so it was interesting to compare the two accounts. As the reader, I believe the biggest strength of this book was the ability to easily be transported into Anne's world. Her stories were witty and personable but at the same time it is hard to even imagine the fear that she lived with. I would say the one weakness of the book is that some of the entries and stories that she told didn't grab my attention as well as others did. At certain points in the book I almost felt bored and ready to skip over entries that were not interesting to me. Overall, this book left me with a bittersweet feeling. It was devastating to know that after that last entry Anne did not go on to live the rest of her life. However, at the same time she learned so much about herself and those who she lived with while she was in hiding, and she completes her diary with a hopeful outlook of the future.

a girl's story

This story accomplishes what it is set out to do. Show how a girl felt about her life turning upside down and ultimatley loosing all of her family. Although it does not show the whole picture of the world at that time, that is not relevant. This is Anne's story, not the story of Europe, or Nazism. it is the story of Anne Frank.

This is A Book You Must Have:

I had a lot of emotions from reading this book of Anne Frank. Sad was the overall emotion and the question "why" was always at the tip of my tongue. Why did such a terrible thing have to happen to such a gifted and gentle young lady. It's a good book cause of Anne's gifted skill in writing and painting a picture in the mind of what she is saying; it is a sad book cause we all know the outcome of what eventually happens to her and her family and the others who were in hiding in the Annex. I feel this book can be an educational tool for us all. I could go on but I will stop here and say get the book it is well worth it cause there was only one Anne Frank and she does have a story to be told and it is in the Definitive version.
