Writing is the key to imagination.

This book was amazing! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Ann M. Martin and Paula Danziger are great writers. This book left you on the edge of your seat, waiting for the next letter. For instance, the two girls (Tara*Starr and Elizabeth) get in a fight; Tara tries to talk to Elizabeth, but she won't answer. It kind of makes you think about how hard it is to move away from a best friend, or having them move away from you. This book also brings emotions. I moved to Louisiana this year, and I know how it feels to move away from all the things you love. This book also made me feel like I was the mail carrier, reading these girls letters back and forth. And like I said before..."Writing is the key to the imagination".

I loved this book!!

Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin couldn't have done a better job on this book even if they tried! Each page leaves you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen to each of the girls. I finished the book in less than two days, and as soon as I did, I could't wait to get the sequel to it! The book is about the girls' correspondence to each other, through the good and the bad. When Tara*Starr moves away, the girls are forced to continue their friendship through letters. As hard as this is, the girls keep at it, and let each other know everything. But as good of friends as they are, they are changing, and so are their lives, for the better.....and for the worse. The distance between the girls doesn't help the matter at all either. Can these two opposites continue to attract, even when all odds are against them? Or is it the end of Tara*Starr and Elizabeth's forever friendship?!

A novel through letters

Tara*Starr and Elizabeth are two completely different girls, who are best friends. Tara*Starr likes to have all eyes on her, while Elizabeth is shy and quiet, and tries to blend in with everyone else.

Tara*Starr moves to Ohio and leaves Elizabeth to start 7th grade on her own. Tara*Starr feels that her charents (parents who still act like children) are acting much more responsible than they ever have, and are now talking about having a baby. While Elizabeth's family is breaking apart. Her father has a drinking problem, and spends money that he doesn't have, which is causing the family to go into debt. He eventually leaves Elizabeth (and her mom and younger sister Emma), and decides to get a separation. The strange thing is, is that Elizabeth is glad that he's left.

This is an excellent book that follows the lives of two girls as they go through new friends, boyfriends, and family problems. But everything always works out for the best.

Two Different Best Friends

Every girl will discover a bit of herself in either Tara*Starr or Elizabeth, the correspondents in Longer Letter Later. The two girls are totally different. Tara*Starr is outgoing and loves to be in the center of attention. Elizabeth is quiet, shy and thoughtful. Tara*Starr has two parents who don't act grown up. Elizabeth lives in a household where feelings kept private. Needless to say, these two different girls are best friends.
Then Tara*Starr's family moves to Ohio and letter writing is the only way to continue their friendship. But changes are taking place in the lives of both girls. Tara*Starr's parents are becoming more responsible, and Elizabeth's father has been fired and is suffering from alcoholism. Will their differences bring them together, or pull them farther apart?
The exchange of letter reveal the lifestyles and thoughts of these two in a lively, engaging way. I was drawn to both these girls and the friendship which distance cannot break.
