the start of it all....

this prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy was the beginning of the Middle Earth world. Easier to read, an ideal start for young fantasy readers before they tackle LOTR. This book began a life long love of fantasy for me.

Fun to Read, Fun to Listen To.

My husband and I had both read The Hobbit previously to listening to this recording of the book, so we were both familiar with the story. However, hearing it read so well with such expression made it come alive all over again, without seeming boring or rote. We appreciated Rob Inglis's voices for various main characters and were entertained by his interpretation of the passages consisting mainly of songs, which, put to a tune, were more entertaining than simply reading them as verse. If you are looking for a well made, unabridged recording of a J.R.R. Tolkien classic, this is it!

The Hobbit, great beginning

Tolkien is well known because of his books "The Lord of the Ring" but "The Hobbit" is the beginning of the story, a really good book from an awsome author

Arrived in a timely manner well packaged. The book itself is in a secure leather-like green case, the paper has a good feel and is quite pretty. Good product.
