Most amazing true stroy I have ever read.

It does not ever cease to amaze me how Papi could achieve so much in just one life time. He epitomizes hopes and inspirations when there appears none. This is THE best book I have read in my life. I wish I could meet Papi in person & listen to everything all over. He is my sole hero.

The Best book I've ever read

Papi will always be a part of me.

I got this book by mistake while i was browsing at a used book shop. And let me tell you that that was the best fifty cents i have ever spent!!!!. I am currently 25 years old and there is nothing that can happen to me in this lifetime that Henry would not be able to overcome. Papillon is filled with so much positive outlook and energy that giving up was not an option at all. Despite all the misfortune Papi never lose track of his goal or accept his fate. I just wished that i was able to sit down with the man and have a beer with him. i will make sure that my son 'll read this book once he 'come of age. Steve mcQueen was more than incredible in that role. Papi is the true definition of triumph for the human spirit. He is the real true hero.

A truly amazing story of a phenomenal man!

Even though I am only fourteen, I still wish to express my views on this. This is about the survival of one truly amazing man. The author of this book wrote its contents with such feeling, I got the impression that he placed himself in the bagne, and wrote from there. There is no explination for the feelings that crossed my mind, flipping page after page. It was a touching story of a brave man, who was wrongly accused, who fought against all odds, and won.

I am 33 years old. I read Pappilon fifteen years ago and I have never forgotten the experience. What this man did to remain alive and keep his spirit going is a testimony to what we can all do in times of strife. I had my own chest tattoed with a Butterfly in his honor. Reading this book makes me feel closer to God and all that brings us close to the human spirit of survival. I reccomend the film to anyone interested, starring Steve Mc Queen and Dustin Hoffman. McQueen gives the performance of his life. Get it in the widescreen version for full effect but first read the book. Always read first! Papillon, a hero for the ages!
