This story is the journey of a girl during WWII Japan.

This book is great. (WARNING) This is a book for young adults because it contains graphic violence, rape, and disturbing ideas. This book will really teach to appreciate what you have and not to be selfish. This is a good book to read and I wouldn't go without reading it.

I first read So Far from the Bamboo Grove a few years ago. The story stayed with me and even shaped my current views of world events.For me, it is amazing that such a young girl could survive such pain and turmoil while enduring a war and facing the loss of her family.If this book cannot open your eyes to the nightmare of war, nothing can.

An excellent, honest book

This book is definetely one of the bests books I haver ever read! We were assigned it at school and we were givin two weeks to read it, I finnished it in TWO DAYS! It so was so execelent! It was so honest and it told what ti was like to be going through a war and how awful it was! I would only recommend it to kids who can handle the intensity of certain parts, the author doesn't hold anything back! But I'm sure they will enjoy it!
