A must read for Rent fans

I found the book to be as inspirational as the show itself. I could not put the book down, and I finished it in one night. The show completely blew me away, and the book explained to me how the creative team achieved that goal. I feel like I know Jonathon Larson personally since I read the book, and saw the pictures of his notes and letters. I certainly wish he was still here to bring us another incredible show like Rent.

An outstanding tribute to an amazing man and his dream

Rent takes on the format of a book, with pages, words, and a cover, yet the mark it leaves upon its reader is just at strong as that of the play. If you are a fan of Rent, or even a fan of life, you cannot afford NOT to buy this book. I give this book five stars, but it deserves so much more.

Broadway's best musical and the genius who wrote it.

This is the greatest book I have ever read. I have listened to RENT for a while, but I had to know more. In this book, I got the backstage view, onstage view, Jonathan's life, death, and cast reaction. The list of accomplishments at the end are the greatest and the bios at the end are conventient especially if you've "seen that face before." The book and the story itself is compelling and moving. So much, in fact, that a friend of mine and I are going to audition in 3 years when we turn 21. If the story is that moving to us, I suggest that everyone read it. It makes you think and portrays "actual reality."

The Book Is Just As Great as the Show!

I went to see RENT without knowing anything about it, and I am thankful for that because I had a really open mind, no expectations and the show blew me away. I just got the book, and I could not put it down, Jonathan's friends, family, and colleagues tell the story of RENT's birth and subsequent climb to be the musical of the 90's! If literally makes you feel that you know him. It is definetly a must have for any RENT lover!

Brings Broadway Home

This is a must have for any theatre-goer and even more so for any avid theatre fan who, due to distance or lack of financial security, does not get to frequent Broadway as often as one would like to. Beautifully written through the voices that were behind Rent, visually addictive with photographs and unique graphic peices around every corner, Rent is not a book to miss. I proudly tote it in my car for all passengers to read.
