Great Instructional Book

This is a great book for those just learning about masking and selecting objects in images. I tried to learn how to create and compose multiple image elements by reading the help menu in Photoshop, but there were so many selections that I couldn't make because I didn't know how to isolate hair, fabric, and other soft fuzzy stuff when making selections. Katrin describes in methodic detail how to use several tools and methods that make it possible to make these selections with confidence. Katrin does a fantastic job of introducing the artist to the tools used to make selections, and how to get the most out of each tool. She shows that there are multiple ways to get the same results, but offers encouragement to the artists to keep experimenting unit they find what works best for them. I've been using the techniques outlined in this book for about a month now and it is fun to watch my compositions come closer to what I see in my mind as I learn new ways to get the most of these selections and masks. I recommend this book to those wanting to make the best use of their time and creative energy.

A must to learn masking

If you want a realistic lesson in masking and composition then this book is for you. Lessons are methodically based as she takes you from one area to the next, building your knowledge as she goes. After reading this book you will no longer be asking, how'd they do that?

Is there a better book in Photoshop CS ???

It's hard to say but this book by Katrin Eismann is the most outstanding, beautiful illustrated and well explained book I bought the last months especially according the techniques of "selecting""masking" and "layering" clearly teached in this 544 page thick book.
Eismann is a rekwown photographer and the "passion" of photography and excellence to shoot and correct images brings her on the top of the Photoshop designers.
Her approach is very functional and takes advantage of "real world " examples.She shows you the different techniques step by step and lets your imagination get over the boundaries'one could dream about.I couldn't put her book away because it's written like a "thriller"and I can assure you, you thrill every moment because you want to know the end of the story; but there's no end ,there would never be one because you'll continue the story later on with your own photos ad probably you stay awake for nights to finish ... no to select,to correct ,to mask and finally to compose that masterpiece you dreamed about!!!
First learn the basics of Photoshop CS but then my friends let this book reveals you "the passion" of compositing trough this amazing tutorial from Katrin.
This book comes on the top of my listmania ad I hope you all agree !!!

An Excellent Purchase

My only regret is I didn't purchase this book sooner. Although I have been dabbling in Photoshop for about three years, in the short time I have had the book I have learnt so much. The ability to download images from the web and work along side the author is a real bonus

Excellent Book

This is the best Photoshop I've bought so far. I particularly like the sections which deal with different "selection" techniques on images with fine details such as hairs. The writer didn't not just present the techniques without much explanation as in most tutorial style books, but she has elaborated on the pro and con of each techniques.

This book is veyr easy to read, but the techniques it covered are not for the beginners. Scott Kelby's books are more appropriated for those who has no previous knowledge of Photoshop.
