Very interesting read!

I've been a Clay fan since the first moment I heard him sing on AI, my husband bought me this book for Christmas and I read it in two days, I couldn't put it down!!! It is so wonderful to see a pop singer in today's world that actually has some morals and isn't afraid to stand up for them!

Only a couple things bothered me about the book though, one was how he lumped all Southern Baptist churches into one group. I am a 42 year old lady who has been in Southern Baptist churches all my life, my father was even a minister, but in all the churches I've been too, I 'might' have heard two or three sermons on hell, usually it is only about Christ's love. I just don't want Clay's negative comments about the Southern Baptist churches turn people off to all Baptist churches.

Secondly, although I have no doubt that his mother loves Clay, I had a hard time understanding how she could have let Ray Parker emotionally abuse Clay the way he did. As a mother, I would never let another treat my child that way.

But all in all, it was a great read of how Clay has overcome many obstacles to achieve all that he has in life. I think this book is a must for all Clay fans!

CLAY IS COMPELLING

I am a REAL fan....I have read Clay's book and also listened to the audio-book and I came away with one thought. Here is a genuine human being; a young man who is devoted in every aspect of his life--his religion; his relationship with his mother (which I find adorable); his wanting to help those children with special needs (and autism in particular) and the talent he brings to the world......that magnificant voice and the ethics he brings along which will not be compromised.

I adore Clay and everything he is and has done. I guess you could say I am a 'rabid' fan and I am a 60 year old women!! So you see--he crosses all barriers even to us older folks!! I cannot wait for his next album so.......hurry up Clay!!

Beautiful

Clay Aiken has done a fantastic job with making it clear as to who he really is and expressing himself. This book is so full of emotions, and it made me laugh, and cry. It includes a few of the main keys to surviving in life, the most important being "be happy with yourself, and everyone else will be too." One of the best things about this book is how incredibly easy it is to relate yourself to Clay, something that would seem hard to do with most celebrities. It's pure chicken soup.

Clay is a positive influence and good ol' southern boy

Learning To Sing probably wasn't something I would have bought for myself, however, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it is an easy read.

Listening to a copy of Clay's audition in Atlanta, one can remember how truly "geeky" this young man was at the start of American Idol, yet how powerful his voice was. Truly the voice and the body didn't match.

However, Clay is a real person - not some made-up personality like many of those gathering in Hollywood. In spite of abandonment, mental abuse and never "fitting in," he was raised with a set of morals and values that are so uncommon these days. Better yet, he wants to stand up and be an example that you don't have to give in and be something you are not.

To be honest, my favourite part of the book was when Clay talked candidly about his faith. He is a Christian who loves the Lord and wants to use the gifts, talents and opportunities that God has given him to make a stand and set an example.

Clay still has a long way to go; however, he has come such a long way already. I look forward to see how God is going to use him, both as a role model, and as an instrument reaching out to special needs children.

A man after God's own heart.

I am emotionally inspired by the contents of this book. Yes, I am a huge Clay Aiken fan. I love his voice. I love his demeanor. I love his purity.
After reading this book, and sometimes having to put it down to find my composure, since I am broken so much that I am weeping; I couldn't get enough of his life.
I have never heard a young man talk so greatly about his mother.
As cruel a world that Clay lived in, he found it in his heart to forgive the very people who taunted and abused him.
This book was my Christmas gift from my little girl.
I am inspired to do more kind things for the people that are less fortunate that I am. To pay attention to the ones whom go unnoticed.
When Clayton Aiken was born, A STAR WAS BORN.
He certainly has a Purpose Driven life.
Good work Clay.
Don't mind the people who ridicule the "reading level" of this book. You speak as a common man. A child would be able to understand and find comfort in your words.
You have great wisdom. You truly are a remarkable human being.
I believe you will continue to serve your calling for a long time to come. There is great work for you to do.
Persevere.
