The Incredible Epic is over and what a great ride it was!

"Sandworms of Dune" is a great adventure that takes us to places we never thought possible. Just when you think you know what is happening, Brian and Kevin twist the plot again and again. I was aslo delighted to find that they had brought back all my favorite characters, even Leto II. At times I thought some of their ideas were outrageous but then I remembered that the book is taking place about about 15,000 plus years in the future where I am sure a lot of things are possible ( I only hope we make it that far!). They also did a good job of using social commentary to drive the book. The little notes at the beginning of each little chapter were very useful, thanks Brian and Kevin!

For years I have been reading the original Dune novels by Frank Herbert. Not only were they GREAT science fiction novels but they were books filled with wonderful social commentary. Thats right, science fiction that can be applied to life. Brian and Kevin had the job of finishing what Frank could not (I mean that man died before the journey was even over!). When I got to the last book by Frank Herbert I could not believe the cliffhanger eding that just left me hanging and feeling like it had all been for nothing because there was no ending. It was like "Lord of the Rings" without the third book to tie everything together. Then TADA! Brian and Kevin were brave enough to finish this great series started by the wonderful Frank Herbert. I don't think anybody would have had the courage to finish the series but Brian and Kevin. Even though they knew that a lot of people would be angry because they were HARDCORE Frank Herbert fans, they still went for it. As much as they tried they are not Frank Herbert and neither is ANYONE ELSE.

Brian and Kevin not only finished this Great Epic but they also gave us a background, also known as prequels, for the "Dune" world so we could understand it more. Before reading the last book "Sandworms of Dune" I actually went back and read the pre-quels so I could understand the whole picture. I also read them because I was sad that it was almost over. I mean getting there is half the fun, right! I tried to read this last book slowly but I was so excited I finished it in a week!

While reading the original Dune Novels, I could not imagine how they were going to end this Epic Journey. I mean, how do you end the future? Well guess what, they did it! They did it and everyone should be happy that they did. Frank Herbert's work was not something to be half-way done. He created something monumental and KUDOS to Brians and Kevin for finishing it!

Dimco Dune Head

I found this book a fitting end to the Dune saga. And though it wasn't written by Frank Herbert , Brian has done his Father well. I have read all the Dune books at least once , some twice. This one, Sandworms of Dune, has such a final twist I never expected. But I think readers of this review need read it for themselves. I gave it 5 stars , because Dune has fasnatied me since the first one and this one was just as good as the first. Just sad this is the end.

Great ending for a fabulous series!

I have read the Dune series since the 70' and was delighted when Frank Herberts son Brian took over after he passed on. Every one of the books was great; and this last one gave it a very satifying ending. Loved it!
