Good Book

This book doesn't go into details explaining Feng Shui, but does offer practical suggestions on reducing clutter.

Clear and Concise

This book will change the way you think about the clutter that surrounds you. As I was reading the pages, I was noticing the piles of paper, clothes, and misc stuff. After you sit the book down it will inspire you to start clearing the junk and for good!. Recommended reading for the Feng Shui enthusiast.

AN EXTREMELY MOTIVATIONAL BOOK!

i happened to stumble upon this book purely by accident. it was sitting inconsipucously on a shelf in the book store and i picked it up for ha has. it was the best thing i could find to start my new year off on the right foot. this book has got me cleaning clutter like i've never cleaned before and thinking thoughts like this: do i really need this? does this really make me happy? i am an habitual pack rat, so this clutter clearing will defintely not happen over night, but i do a cabinet at a time... a closet at a time... and i cannot begin to tell you the feeling of relief that comes over me! why was i keeping that sweater my husband gave me 14 years ago? the sweater i haven't worn in 12 years? why do i have filing cabinet drawers filled with teacher plan books from 15 years ago? why do i still have cards and pictures students gave me from all those years ago? why do i have bookshelves of books i haven't read in 20 years? what about all the utility bills and visa bills and phone bills? why do we keep this stuff?!!

karen kingston says there are 3 ways to declutter: 1) let nature take its course (i.e. flood or fire) 2) wait until you die and let someone else clean up after you or 3) make a consious decision to get rid of your own stuff.

it feels good to just get junk out of the house. and this does not mean making room for more stuff. this means asking yourself the same questions when you are shopping: do i really need this? does this make me happy? a friend once told me that i don't have to buy it just because it's on sale. this saying along with all that i've learned in the book is helping me become a new me. when you get rid of clutter and tie up loose ends, enormous weights lift from your mind and body and your WHOLE SELF begins to feel clutter free! it's amazing!!

Clear Your clutter with Feng Shui

It really has helped in analyzing what clutter really means. She makes you even consider cleaning out your email, books that have been read, etc...its a good quick read book with good examples.

Insightful reading

This book was an easy, quick read, with lots of interesting ideas about dirt and clutter. The ideas presented fit in nicely with my view of the world, but some parts may seem a little "out there" to more conservative-minded people. The author draws upon her experience with the culture and traditions of Bali to bring eastern thinking to life in the western world. The one thing missing, I thought, were tools to help a person actually DO the decluttering (which is recommended before starting a space-clearing ritual), but I appreciate the information about how clutter affects me and the world around me, which many other "decluttering" books do not address. Perhaps one of the best pieces of information I gained through this reading experience (and following links to the author's website) was the information on "colon cleansing." I have begun a program (using herbs from her recommended supplier) and maybe it's not my imagination that as my body becomes "unstuck," my life seems to follow along. I'm noticing small movements towards cleansing old ideas and patterns and beginning healthier alternatives. Overall, a very nice book, and now I'm reading another title by this author.
