The very best baby-naming tool ever

I got this book b/c it came highly recommended by a friend. I was especially interested in the names suggested for siblings -- I like consistency, I guess. While I won't be choosing any of the author's suggestions for my newest addition, I found her lists to very helpful in finding names I would like but are much less popular. The profiles for the names are great, cross-referenced to the helpful lists -- like names that are "timeless" -- very useful and a bit addictive. My husband calls the baby-name game "Chinese water torture." Lucky for him, this book delivers and we're all settled on our name selection (for) now.

best name book I've seen in a while

Really loved this book. First one I've seen that includes both a graph of each name's popularity over time and list of brother & sister names that go with. I relied on "Beyond Jennifer, Jason, Madison, and Montana" for my first two, and liked that book, but "Baby Name Wizard" really offered an alternative.

The best baby name book

I think this book is fantastic. It gives you a number of ways to search through all the names to find the right one for you. It offers so much more than simply listing all the names with definition in alphabetical order. Not only does it group names in a way that makes sense, if you already have a child, it offers names that are good sibling names for the name that you have already picked. It is amazing how accurate it is. I had a middle name picked out and I found the perfect first name to go along with it by looking up the middle name. Amazing book.

Take it or leave it!

This was an OK book. I had heard a lot of interesting things about this book and that it was very good so I was excited to buy it. Infortunately when I got it. It did not have some of the names in it that I liked it was missing a lot of names that celebrities have named there children even ones like Shiloh which is a bibical name which, suprised me and many others. If you are looking for a diffrent name don't buy this book also I found that so many of the brother and sister names are names that I would not choose for my other children. Only a couple of names that were in there that is recommended I noticed that I liked also. They said they got the names on the computer but when I saw the name lourdes it said a good brother name would be rocco hint hint it's the same as madonnas children and it also recommended for lourdes a sister named madonna so I'm not really sure how accurate it is. But, if you like to add baby name books to your collection or like to look up names then I would suggest it but otherwise it's basically the same as most of the other baby name books out there. I should add that I really wanted to like this book and I didn't hate it but the choice is really up to you to get it or not because it's still worthwhile.

Most unique and helpful baby name book out there

I love this book! I bought it while pregnant with my first child after becoming frustrated with the monotonous lists of other name books. This book organizes names by style, so that you can see more of the types of names you may be drawn to. Plus, it shows the popularity of the names throughout the years. Very different and extremely well organized. I just bought it again to use in naming my second child (I loaned my first one out, and never got it back - that's how good it is!). It's only drawback is that it does not give pronounciations or meanings, but you can find those on over 100 websites. Highly recommended book.
