To a reader from California,
Even if you never have encountered anyone having such conversion as Ms. Rivers has portraited, please do not think it is impossible. The Holy Spirit works on people's lives differently. I have seen and known people with such conversion -- quoting Bible verses and complete change of behavior, etc. We have a wonderful God with whom nothing is impossible! This book is intriguing, inspiring, a great read. I found this book difficult to put down. The poignancy of Cadi's sense of guilt which separated her from her parents' love, the unusual concept of the Sin Eater as a sort of redeemer, the fiercely defended autonomy of a wild, remote Appalachian mountain community, the fascinating way scripture is an integral part of the story, and the rela tionships, especially between Cadi and Fagan, son of the brutal Brogan Kai.
