Seth is a smart guy
Seth is a smart guy and reading his book will help you find the right way to talk with people. Also he talks about so many different success cases that you will be very motivated to start your own project and develop that idea you kept in your closet for some time...
All Marketers Are Liars
Seth Godin leads your thinking process outside the box. I direct a fabulous 14 year old program for older adults and we continue to be the best kept secret in the city. Seth forced me to totally redesign our marketing program. He helps you write your organization's
authentic story
that both you and the consumer want to believe.

I really enjoyed this book!
I have worked in marketing and advertising, but do not currently. I picked up this book, strictly for the title. I have always thought myself to be a marketer's nightm
are
. I don't buy anything because of the brand name. The few branded things I do buy are only bought because I have used them and they have proven their worth to me. So, I picked up All
Marketers
Are
Liars
, expecting it to trash marketing gimmicks. Boy was I surprised to find that I am not the nightmare I thought myself to be. Godin's theory of story
telling
as opposed to advertising is right on the money. While reading his book, I realized that I, too, have been hooked by the good
stories
and it opened my eyes a little more to marketing ploys that I hadn't even paid any thought to. Godin's examples of product story telling are very interesting. I really enjoyed this book!

Myths, Mayhem and Marketing
Seth Godin's books
are always
cutting edge. While they're short on hard core marketing research and facts they milk current marketing pop psychology. His premise that marketing is built on story
telling
is spot on .... and the ability to tell
stories
in an ethical and
authentic
way ... is an essential, and indeed vital skill for both aspiring and experienced leaders.
Perhaps this book just reinforces current 'C' level thinking (eg CEO and Board level) that marketing is difficult to measure, unethical and a waste of money.
At least the book opens up the debate about 'perception is reality'.
Worth reading for its contrarian view. A better read for aspiring and experienced leaders is 'Understanding Influence for Leaders at All Levels' (McGraw-Hill 2005).
