Don't let the slow start discourage you

The first time i tried to read this book i had to stop after 30 pages because it was moving kind of slowly and there a a lot of flashbacks and it's unclear where you are for awhile (it was for me anyways). Then it was on my summer reading list so i decided to give it another try. I am so glad i stuck with it the second time. The book is really great. The friendship between Eric "Moby" and Sarah Byrnes is really touching. The characters are really realiztic and you get to know them so well and you really feel for them when they're going through tough times (which is a lot in the book). This book is definately worth a try (or a second chance:-))

BASEBALL THE LAST CENTURY

If you are a fan of America's favorite century than the book 20th Century Baseball Chronicle is the book for you. This book is a rather large in size but don't let that fool you. The book begins with a tribute (if you will) to the year 1900. The book ends with the year 1998. Each section of the book is dedicated to what spectactular happened in that particular year. The year 1998, for example, the Flordia Marlins won te World Series, and Mark McGuire hit 58 homeruns.

I personally really enjoyed this book. I may be only 15, but that really doesn't matter. When it comes to baseball I will read a book up to 900 plus pages. You see baseball is my passion and I love anything to do with basball.

The book has so many features, it has pictures on all the pages. The bottom of the pages have little highlights over the year. For example, the year 1995 one of the highlights was "Mickey Mantle Dies at age of 64." Some of the articles are rather sad but they do prove one point, don't take advantage of your life, it is way too short.

EXCELLENT BOOK

I loved this book. This was the first chris crutcher book i read, and is still my favorite (closely followed by Ironman). I had nightmares about mr Byrnes!. I especially liked the friendships between moby and ellory , and moby and sarah, and thought the way ellory realised how he had been as bad as everyone else by ignoring sarah was very touching. Ii wasnt that keen on jodie as i didnt feel she was a particularly realistic character, and althoung mark britain was over the top it was good to have such a character to dislike...

i cant wait for the next chris crutcher book.

Staying Corpulent
