Very do-able!
It seems everywhere you turn nowadays you read, see or hear about "super
foods
""--those foods
that help
bring one to *optimal health*. The difference between Dr. Steven Pratt's book and some of the others out there is that this plan can actually be done by an ordinary person shopping in an ordinary grocery store. Blueberries? Sure. Easy to find, not too expensive, and tasty too. The same goes for most of the other foods---spinach, yogurt, whole grains, nuts, salmon, etc. Common sense information? Sure, but isn't it good to be reminded?
As a person with a chronic illness, I've read countless 'diet' books over the years---not for weight loss, but for improved health. There's the wheat-free diet, the non-dairy diet (and a combination of the two), the raw foods diet, and many, many others. Have I tried them? You bet. Did they work? To a degree. But I found that trying to keep up with all the planning that went into eating, as well as the expense and time, got to be a little ridiculous. It just wasn't worth it. Not so with Dr. Pratt's book. I've generally been a pretty healthy eater to begin with (but am a junk food junkie at heart---just not an actively practicing one) and I've found his book to be extremely easy to read and follow. Since purchasing"
SuperFoods
" last fall, I can honestly say that this *diet* is not difficult to follow. I feel good, have more energy and most importantly, I feel I am investing in my future health.
I appreciate Dr. Pratt's easy-to-read format. If one wants to know exactly why blueberries are good for you, he's got it all written down. If one just wants to know what the superfoods are, some recipes and specific brands to look for in the store, he's got that too. As an Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer, I am often asked about diets. While I don't give dietary advice, I do recommend this book to my clients. It's clear, concise, and I feel his information is right on the money. Perfect for those wanting to incorporate easy to fix, healthful foods into their diet.
Will

motivational as well as educational
This book has
change
d how I view food. It has motivated me to not only eat better
foods
but try them as well. I enjoyed the detailed information of why these
fourteen foods
are
superfoods
. It is nice to have a list of DO eat foods versus the usual DO NOT eat foods. I thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to any follow up books Dr. Pratt may publish. My eyes have been opened to a new world of nutrition and disease prevention.

Wonderful book
This book helped me turn my
life
around.
I was eating terribly, no energy, 60 lbs over weight with a family history of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's. Dr. Pratt did a great job of making the science of nutrition accessible to me. I am really committed to the idea of using food as a preventative to keep me healthy.
I was leafing through this book in the book store and I thought it was so great I bought it in hard cover (I've since bought another copy for my parents). Since overhauling my diet by elimating processed food, reducing sugar, eliminating fast food while trying to eat at least 10 different super
foods every
day - I feel AMAZING. I've lost 50 lbs since July (7 to go!) and I have so much energy. It's a huge difference in how I look and feel.
So, Dr. Pratt - I don't know if you read these reviews, but you
change
d at least one life. Thanks.

A life changing book ! worth it's weight in Gold !
I became interested in the book because my father has macular degeneration. I bought him a copy and one for myself.
I followed the recommendations after eating the
fourteen
foods
, for fourteen days, I felt a renewed sense of well being, health and energy. I'm a busy bridal hairstylist in Toronto clients have noticed a big
change
and want to know my secret. I love to share the good news, and pass it on to help everyone I can. My friends, family, and over 20 clients have taken my advice and tried this great book, and are excited as I was. It only takes a few days of eating the fourteen foods to see and feel the great results. Not to mention the long term benefits of the
life changing
foods. If anyone would like to e-mail me on this book I would be more than happy to answer any questions. www.bridalhair.com

Very Easy to incorporate the changes into my diet
That
is what i have found. I'm in the back side of 40's. I have taken pretty good care of myself. But as most as we get older you become aware of diet/
life risk
. I have juiced for years. Juicing is pretty good, but it can be kind of a pain somedays, and you can get overloaded from natural sugars.
I had been hearing about blueberries for a while now, so i was trying to eat some daily. I borrowed this book at thanksgiving, from some friends, and read it in about three sittings. What I have found is this is so easy to
change
or tweak my diet.
Pratt, isn't talking about becoming a neurotic-food-psycho, where ever item consumed needs to be gamma scanned, or the origin needs to be known.
Real simple i think it is called "common sense" does that still work??, yes.
I like most of the
foods
he recommends putting in. I'm not a big fish eater, but sardines and canned salmon I can handle. He isn't talking about eating my own body weight weekly. A few ounces weekly, isn't that hard to handle.
I returned to college a few years ago and was required to take an adult health class.
At first i was annoyed as in i don't want to pay to take this class, I'm a finance major leave me alone with this feel good garble. Well colleges are funny, they have this little thing called requirements for degree completion. Play our way or no sheepskin. Well anyway, I have found this Super Foods Rx to fit very nicely with my awareness from that class. I don't look at having a stroke or heart attack as attractive and since the medical field is leaning that life choices can and do contribute to our own demise. Correct diet, or better than prior seems to make sense. Garbage in, garbage out.
I read this book, went shopping, and found the little suggestions he offers were very easy to do. A small handful of nuts, a little more spinach, some Beta, or Omega oils,etc...;
nothing really involved just awareness.
I feel a lot better and the other part is i feel full most of the time. I sometimes build a house for hobby, and am right now, when i do I do a fair amount of my own work. So i get real hungry sometimes the kind of hungry where i almost feel sick and weak. Strange thing with Pratts idea is i don't have that feeling right now.
I tell you for the few bucks this book cost i think i
will save
it on the backend. If i avoid one medical situation, even with insurance i have a $1,000 deductible, but also overall quality of life.
i hate going to the hospitals for medical reasons, ever notice how when you need to go for medical reason it isn't really a convenient time for you.
I'm strung out, right now on 'Patty's Pumkin Pudding" that and a little yogurt in the morning to start off. I do drink a little coffee sometimes; green tea for me just doesn't have the kick I wantall of the time. Also the Buckwheat honey is little different, ok just different.
I'm glad I found this book. I've said the changes have been very easy and so far I've stuck with the changes. Not really major life changes for me. I haven't done fast food for years already and pretty much cook my own food anyway so tweaking has been relatively easy.
