a wealth of information!
great book! Highly recommended for all women no matter what stage of life you are in or what you are tying to achieve!
pregnant after 1st month charting
This book seemed a little overwhelming at first--it's very detailed and very specific but I read it carefully and reread a few chapters over again to be sure I knew what I was doing. My husband and I wanted to start trying since we'd been told it might be hard for us. We tried one cycle without charting and nothing happened and then charted for one cycle and got pregnant. If you have the patience to take
your temperature
every AM, record things like cervical fluid and check you're own cervix, you'll either get pregnant by following the author's advice, or at very least, you'll be able in certain instances to know what your problem might be--for example a luteal phase that's too short. I had troubles with enough CF but the book recommended a
natural safe
product to use instead--in short, I'm 15 weeks pregnant and expecting a boy thanks to this book. What I love the most about this book is how much I've learned about myself and my own biology--such a shame that so many women (like me) are so quick to give over our own reproductive care to Dr's who's first instincts are to medicate. This book really gives women decision making power based on the knowledge they get about their own bodies. Based on what I knew about my basal temperature, I knew to take a positive home pregnancy test 12 days after ovulation which was 4-5 days sooner before my missed period!

information every girl/woman should know
Even though I do not plan to use this method of
birth
control
, I learned so much about myself...that no one ever told me. Not even sex ed class mentioned half of the things in this book. Every woman needs to know about her own body and cycle, this book provides an easy, humorous way to learn. I plan to share this book with my own daughter when she reaches puberty.
what I always wanted to know
Great book, I wish I had read it years ago. It explains everything you want to know about menstruation in much better detail that
your
mum might be able or willing to explain. It basically explains FAM (fertility awareness method) of contraception where you time sex according to when you're fertile or infertile (depending if you want to conceive or NOT) using three methods, temperature, mucus or fluids and cervix. But much more than this it teaches you to really get to kow your reproductive system, understand it, admire it and love it! It specially helpful for women who have irregular cycles, or don't like chemical or intrusive methods of contraception. It teaches you how to be in tune with your body and therefore take care of it. I recommend it to all women, from late teens (maybe too complicated for very young teens) up until menopause.

Essential reading on fertility and family planning
This is a great book for those women (and couples) that are trying to get pregnant and for those that are trying to not get pregnant without using contraception. We love this book so much we have given away about 10 copies of it by now.
There are a lot of biological aspects to fertility that are easy to understand but aren't explained by doctors, and a lot of fertility 'problems' aren't problems at all but are just a case of trying to apply
guidelines that
are formulated based on 28-day fertility cycles to cycles that can vary from 21 days to 42 days in the real world. This book tells you how to figure out where you fit and how to adapt the guidelines to
your
situation.
If you want to learn about
natural family
planning this is also a great resource -- just learn the same guidelines about how to get pregnant and use them in reverse to not get pregnant.
